It’s award season in Ireland’s spa world and some of our personal favourites are getting some extremely well-deserved recognition.
Irish Independent Reader Travel Awards
First up, the six best spas in Ireland from the Irish Independent Reader Travel Awards. Featured in The Independent and voted for by readers, four Spabreaks.com destinations were named for their “world-class”, “spotless”, “impeccable staff”, “absolute luxury” and “laser focus on attention to detail”.
Farnham Estate, Co Cavan

Scooping up prizes left, right and centre, this luxurious hotel is combined with exceptional surroundings and superb facilities. The spa is described as a thermal village, providing the ultimate in luxury relaxation. There’s a pool, orangery, Celtic sauna, snow cabin and sanarium, as well as the River House for classes, raised on stilts and with views over the cascading River Maine.
Tripadviser’s Travellers Choice Awards Top 25 Irish Hotels for 2019
The second set of awards for spas in Ireland this January is Tripadviser’s Travellers Choice Awards published in Irish Tatler. It included Hayfield Manor at number eight, The Montenotte Hotel at number 15 and The Shandon Hotel at number 19.
Hayfield Manor, Cork
Members of the Small Luxury Hotels group and Ireland’s illustrious Blue Book, Hayfield Manor is a five star hotel in Cork. Retaining the distinct charm of a country manor house, it has a five star and superbly personal approach to spa treatments.
The Montenotte, Cork
