First up, the six best spas in Ireland from the Irish Independent Reader Travel Awards. Featured in The Independent and voted for by readers, four Spabreaks.com destinations were named for their “world-class”, “spotless”, “impeccable staff”, “absolute luxury” and “laser focus on attention to detail”.
Set in idyllic grounds, the estate dates back to the 1600s, while the spa is superbly new. Facilities include an infinity pool, water mint thermal suite, an aroma steam bath, snail showers, a Kneipp walk a Finnish sauna, ice fountain and a reflexology foot basin.
A completely unique escape, Fota Island Resort sits on an island in Cork Harbour. It is home to Ireland’s only wildlife park, and the resort is a multifaceted destination. It enjoys a five star rating for its hospitality and breathtaking natural scenery.
Scooping up prizes left, right and centre, this luxurious hotel is combined with exceptional surroundings and superb facilities. The spa is described as a thermal village, providing the ultimate in luxury relaxation. There’s a pool, orangery, Celtic sauna, snow cabin and sanarium, as well as the River House for classes, raised on stilts and with views over the cascading River Maine.
The second set of awards for spas in Ireland this January is Tripadviser’s Travellers Choice Awards published in Irish Tatler. It included Hayfield Manor at number eight, The Montenotte Hotel at number 15 and The Shandon Hotel at number 19.
Members of the Small Luxury Hotels group and Ireland’s illustrious Blue Book, Hayfield Manor is a five star hotel in Cork. Retaining the distinct charm of a country manor house, it has a five star and superbly personal approach to spa treatments.
Paying attention to all the details, The Montenotte Hotel has the sense of a country house hotel. Combined with excellent food and an exceptional location. A feeling of peace, it is in a unique location overlooking the beautiful city and is home to Ireland’s only Sunken Victorian Garden. Luxury details also include an in-house cinema and its own spa product line, Bellevue Botanicals.
The hotel is a high end four star resort on the Wild Atlantic Way, so everywhere you go you are blessed with these spectacular views. The spa takes you on a wellness journey alongside the wonderful scenery of one of Ireland’s loveliest coastlines. Meanwhile, there’s synergy in the spa treatments, which are imbued with sea salt and natural ingredients.
