There are so many different types of spa experience. While the most popular spa treatment remains the most popular spa treatment in terms of being the most commonly booked, often that's because people default to something they have tried before. In reality, there's a whole world of wellness waiting to be explored, and bathing rituals are a must-try.
Bathing rituals are exactly what they sound like - guests are invited to spend time in a private space that's been designed to support rest and relaxation, perhaps with meditation music, suggested breathing techniques, and aromatherapy oils scenting the air.
Bathing rituals come in a variety of options, with different spas adding their own unique touches. However, as a rule of thumb, a bath is filled with water to the preferred heat, and the therapist will have added additional elements such as seaweed, rose petals, and essential oils to achieve a specific outcome, whether its relaxation, hormone balance, and so forth. You spend time enjoying the bath for a set period, and afterwards, you might be supplied with creams or oils to moisturise the skin before heading to the relaxation area.
These bathing rituals are different to mud baths, which can be literal baths of mud (quite unusual in the UK), or in the form of a mud rasul (where you apply mud to the skin and let it work its magic in a special type of steam room).
The benefits of spa bathing rituals vary depending on the specifics of the treatment. For example, some are about general relaxation, while others might be geared towards detox.
They are especially popular amongst those who are anxious about touch therapies and are looking for options that allow them to enjoy the benefits of a treatment without contact. They are also excellent experiences for enjoying before a massage or facial, helping to relax mind and body to make the most of other therapies, as well as prepare the skin to absorb all those beautiful oils and products for optimum impact.
Laceby Manor is an eco-conscious retreat in the Lincolnshire Wolds, described as ‘the best new spa in the north of England’ by Glamour Magazine and named among the 50 Best UK Spas by the Times and Sunday Times. The spa is purpose-built, and enjoys a variety of facilities, including their new Reflection Room in the spa garden. They also have a dedicated bathing room where you can take the opportunity to enjoy one of their bathing rituals, choosing from a relaxing Aromatherapy Salt Bathing Ritual or a cleansing VOYA Seaweed Bathing Ritual.
Working with organic, seaweed-based skincare brand, VOYA, the spa's Seaweed Bathing Ritual sees you relax in a bath of pure organic, hand-harvested Atlantic seaweed to help release toxins and alleviate aches and pains. Settle into your individual slipper bath with moulded seats, for a bathing ritual that offers the simplest and purest of all organic treatments, stemming from a 300-year-old tradition and Ireland’s only indigenous therapy. Using only the natural power of organic seaweed, this unique therapy will deeply moisturise the skin, increase circulation, and promote healing.
The second bathing ritual sees you unwind in a bath soak that blends VOYA organic essential oils including lime, clove, basil, mandarin and cedarwood. Together with their bath salts, this is a wonderful aromatic bath treatment that will leave you feeling both relaxed and uplifted.
