Spa skincare: Philosophia Botanica

The beautiful new Heavenly Spa at The Westin London City uses three brands in their array of spa treatments - Germaine de Capuccini, Aromatherapy Associates and Philosophia Botanica. All are beautiful product lines, but Philosophia Botanica is lesser known than the others and it’s definitely a name you will want to remember. Here’s their story.

About Philosophia Botanica skincare products

The South African brand was established in Cape Town in 2013, the brainchild of Francesca Canzano-Franklin. Her passion for aromatherapy, plants, herbal remedies and all things natural was the inspiration. FYI, she is also the creator of the multi-award winning: PRO Gua Sha Facial and The Eastern Facelift (available at Heavenly Spa).

A wellness professional, Francesca drew on her knowledge of the industry as well as the Cape indigenous plants and botanical oils and eastern therapies. As such, the use of essential oils and flower essences addresses mental and emotional wellness as well as physical health. That, and of course, effectiveness for the user. They are big on safe ingredients and promoting safe cosmetics across the industry.

Nurturing skincare and cosmetics

In keeping with a truly modern, holistic brand, it was important to her that Philosophia Botanica products use ingredients that are sustainably sourced as well as the preservation of botanical culture wherever possible. They are not animal tested, and products are packaged in glass to preserve freshness and conserve the original scent, as well as being ready for recycling.

The Eastern facelift treatment with Philosophia Botanica is a new approach to an age-old tradition. It incorporates elements of traditional Chinese medicine, face mapping, acupressure points and meridians, lymphatic drainage, lifting and sculpting techniques with bespoke Gua Sha stones along with all-natural luxurious skincare oils.

The Meridian Flow Golden Ritual

This luxurious face treatment plumps the skin, promotes skin vitality, defines, sculpts and lifts the skin. Gold coated micro-magnets are carefully applied to the acupressure points and meridians of the face to stimulate tissue activity, increase micro-circulation and oxygenation, reduce the depth of wrinkles, plump the skin and encourage the flow of Qi.
