Read full postSummer is all about being carefree and enjoying whichever fun outdoor activities that come your way, however five minutes on a hot day is all it can take for your makeup to take a turn for the worst.
I’ve researched some of the best sweat-proof makeup products that will keep in place during steamy summer nights, all the way to beach days!
Oil free primers are made to help makeup stay on the skin a little longer. They can cut also down on shine later in the day. Apply before putting on your foundation, but after your moisturiser.
Benefit - The Porefessional face primer (Retails £26)
This oil-free primer quickly minimises the appearance of pores and fine lines for smoother-than-smooth skin whilst helping to keep your make-up stay put. The translucent formula contains a vitamin E derivative known to protect skin from free radicals.
Maybelline SuperStay 24h Liquid Foundation (Retails £10)
This high-street foundation is a flawless wear foundation that resists the summer heat and humidity. Providing all day coverage, but yet breathable and flexible to your skin type. This foundation glides on beautifully and gives great coverage without looking like you’re wearing too much. At just £10 this is a great little find.
MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation (Retails £27)
Originally created by MAC as a concealer, this waterproof formula foundation gives you perfect wearing for 16 hours. Neither rain nor sweat can budge this oil-free watertight product that actually repels moisture from the surface of the face. The formula blends seamlessly on the skin with medium to full weightless coverage and a natural satin finish. It’s perfect for popping into your make-up bag while on the go.
Estée Lauder Double Wear Maximum Cover Make-up (Retails £32.50)
This maximum cover makeup is perfect for concealing all skin imperfections, blemishes, birthmarks etc, but gives a wonderful natural finish. Lasting well up to 12 hours, this formula has been created in collaboration with surgeons and dermatologists.
With all foundations, apply softly with a foundation brush in a criss-cross motion.
Some people won’t need a finishing spray to keep their makeup on, especially if they have normal to dry skin, however I feel it helps to keep everything in place.
I like to use MAC PREP + PRIME FIX Spray. A lightweight mist of water packed with vitamins and minerals, infused with a blend of green tea, chamomile and cucumber to gently soothe and refresh the skin. Gives an instant boost of hydration while delivering a soft sheen to refresh and finish makeup.
With all foundations, apply softly with a foundation brush in a criss-cross motion.
Powders can cake in the heat, making your skin look blotchy. During the summer, if you’re noticing cakiness, switch to cream blushes and eye shadows and use an eyelid primer if you find your eye make-up running.
Use waterproof mascara! Most brands will have a waterproof option you can buy. I like to use this at all times, not just in the summer so I am always prepared.
