From the buzz of Brighton to the serenity of the South Downs, the English vineyards to historic villages, medieval castles, and beautiful beaches, we know where to go, what to see, and how to have an exceptional time on a Sussex spa break. So, we thought we'd share a little insider knowledge with you.
What to do on a spa break in Sussex
See Seven Sisters and the famous white cliffs, explore ancient castles, stroll on the beach, swim in the sea, or party the night away. Here are just a few of our favourite things to do in Sussex.
Sail into the sunset
When in such close proximity to the water, it would be a shame not to sail into the deep blue yonder - metaphorically at least. Water sports are a great way to enjoy Sussex to the full, whether you want to windsail, wakeboard, sail, SUP, kayak, jet ski or head out on a powerboat ride.
Party in Brighton
Brighton is known for its vibrant atmosphere, from quirky cafes to an energetic arts scene, the Brighton Pride Street Party in August, to plenty of bars, restaurants, clubs, and entertainment. A favourite is the Palace Pier, where you can enjoy arcade games and funfair rides alongside food stalls and ocean views.
Go to the beach
Beaches in Sussex offer their own brand of magic, from sandy coves to city swims. You're spoiled for choice from the likes of Camber Sands near Rye to the award-winning Pelham Beach at Hastings, Brighton's own expanse of pebbly seafront, Marina St Leonards, West Wittering and more.
Hike in the hills
From coast to country, walking in Sussex is a beautiful way to explore the area's natural beauty. Head to the South Downs National Park, explore the Heritage Coast walk taking in the cliff-top lighthouse at Beachy Head and the iconic Seven Sisters, and discover everything from marine nature reserves to stories about shipwrecks and smugglers along the way.
Explore English vineyards
English wine is now amongst the top rated in the world, and Sussex is home to some of the most celebrated vineyards. Go on a tour, sample sparkling favourites, and learn about UK viticulture at the likes of Rathfinny Wine Estate, the Wiston Estate, Bolney Estate, Ridgeview Wine Estate, and more.
Visit ancient attractions
Sussex is a place of rich history, from Saxon settlements to the Norman conquest. Explore and experience the area through ages, at sites ranging from the hill forts at Cissbury Ring to the 14th-century moated Bodiam Castle or the drama of Battle Abbey, the site of the 1066 Battle of Hastings.
