Why Cork is one of Ireland’s top luxury spa towns

We have often waxed lyrical about the wealth of spa options available for visitors in Ireland. For those who have not experienced it, you are missing out. In particular however, it is Cork that has the highest density of luxury spa hotels within its ranks… do we hear a road trip coming on?

Hayfield

Hayfield Manor Hotel

This five star hotel has the sense of a country manor house and as well as being family friendly and an ideal option for business and pleasure, it is all champagne and chocolates.

Even the dog is welcome to this most stylish of hotels, where dining is all about Irish cuisine and locally grown food, and the spa is all floor to ceiling windows around the pool, an outdoor Jacuzzi and Elemis rituals.

The Montenotte Hotel - gardens

The Montenotte Hotel

The Montenotte Hotel is a truly unique escape - country house meets contemporary style with exceptional furnishings and splashes of colour. It is also city chic whilst offering a sense of escapism. Overlooking the city of Cork, it is home to Ireland’s only Hotel Sunken Victorian Garden.

Meanwhile, despite its proximity to the buzz of city life, it is also home to a wealth of facilities including a 20 metre pool, and offers treatments using its own product line, Bellevue Botanicals, inspired by the aforementioned sunken garden.

Kingsley

The Kingsley Hotel

An award winning hotel in a peaceful location by the River Lee, The Kingsley Hotel is cool, calm and contemporary.

For a really decadent trip then we would recommend upgrading to its lavish two-story Penthouse, but even in a Classic Room you can enjoy its stylish bar and elegant location.

The Maryborough Hotel and Spa

Just a couple of miles outside the city, The Maryborough Hotel and Spa combines the charm and grandeur of a country house with the contemporary service of a four star hotel.

Its gardens are 300 years old and are listed, but the facilities are modern, especially in the spa where they employ both Western and Oriental healing techniques.

Fota Island

Fota Island Resort

A little further outside Cork, but most definitely worth a mention, Fota Island Resort is a really unique proposition.

Home to Ireland’s only wildlife park, it is a five star, multifaceted experience combining hotel accommodation as well as lodges, an array of outdoor activities and a magnificent spa, all on an island in Cork Harbour, giving it the most magnificent location.
