A hotel with history
For those who like to feel a little Bridgerton-esque on their spa breaks, the history behind Oulton Hall will go a long way towards those lady of the manor vibes. The 18th-century former family mansion was occupied by the Calverleys from 1753. The original building was largely destroyed by fire in 1850 and was replaced by the grand property we see today, designed by Leeds architects William Perkin & Elisa Backhouse. It opened as a hotel in a flurry of excitement in 1993, and remains a popular place to stay whether you're on a romantic break or with family and friends.
Scenic surroundings
In the heart of rural West Yorkshire, the hotel sits amidst beautiful landscaped gardens offering rural views from every aspect as well as ample opportunities for idyllic walks along the canal. It's within easy reach of Leeds, but also invites you to explore the beauty of the area, with spectacular hikes straight from the front door as well as historic attractions like Kirkstall Abbey close by.
Game of golf
For golf enthusiasts, the hotel is particularly popular as it's surrounded by its own 27-hole golf complex including two courses. The Calverley Course is 18 holes and overlooks a beautiful hill and dale landscape, while The Hall Course is a nine hole extension course that adds variety and offers a different challenge.
A leisurely stay
Alongside all the history and heritage, the hotel is also home to a modern health club, which sits in its own space within the grounds. It's home to a host of facilities including a gym and exercise studio, a swimming pool, sauna, steam room and whirlpool, and for the cherry on top, they offer a range of spa therapies from Elemis.
Family friendly
One of the lovely things about this hotel is that for all its architectural grandeur, it's incredibly welcoming. Families love it as much as groups of friends, especially as there are children’s menus available, family rooms and splash times in the pool.
