Each year brings new knowledge, new ideas and new innovations when it comes to wellness. So what's everyone talking about this year, and which wellbeing trends are capturing your interest?
Sustainable activewear
Wellness for the planet is part of our own wellbeing journey and GlobalData has predicted that we're all becoming more mindful about our gardens, with the clothing resale market set to rise by 67.5% between 2022 to 2026. This is on top of the growing trend for sustainable activewear in terms of fibres and manufacturing, which has been on the rise since 2020. The beauty of reusable fashion however is that it's good for the planet and our pockets.

Back to nature
Spending time in nature is one of the best things we can do for our health on every level. It helps mental health, physical health, emotional health and recovery. In a digital world it's hard to pull ourselves away from the screens. However, whether it's going for a hike, freshwater swimming or simple grounding ourselves by placing bare feet on the grass, getting outside into the fresh air for a good walk is one of the top health trends for 2024 - simple!
We all have different reasons for being interested in our health - for some it's about obtaining the body beautiful. For others it's about supporting mental health. For some it's about recovery from illness or helping to prevent it. Hopefully it's a combination of motivations. However, the focus is increasingly on supporting a long and healthy life. Inspired by Netflix's 2023 hit docu-series, Secrets of the Blue Zones, exploring communities around the globe with a higher than average rate of people reaching the age of 100, it's motivation to focus on long-term health goals through nutrition, hobbies and daily movement. What a beautiful goal!
Personalised wellbeing
This is something we have been talking about since before it was fashionable - personalised health. We're all different - none of us fits into a cookie cutter mould, and the more information we have, the more of us are feeling empowered to take our health into our own hands and find what works for us. From spa treatments that are tailored to individual wellbeing needs, to the rise of ZOE's scientific analysis of your body and its unique gut, blood fat, and blood sugar responses, it's no longer about one size fits all - it's about what suits you.

The ongoing rise of plant-based
Plant-based diets, or predominantly plant-based diets are proving increasingly popular as people learn more about the benefits of more veg. There's been. Bit of a backlash against overly processed vegan alternatives, but as we're generating greater knowledge, reverence for plants in our diets on a meaningful level remains strong.

Wellness-inspired travel
Holidays and mini breaks that are focused on wellness continue to rise in popularity as we not only seek to enjoy our down time, but to make it purposeful as well. Sleep retreat, fitness breaks or a spa break dedicated to rest and relaxation are all a primary focus as more opportunities arise and we're all more aware of the importance of nurturing our wellbeing. As the Global Wellness Institute predicts, wellness tourism is set to grow by around 21% by 2025 – more than any other aspect of the wellness sector.
