Spas for cosy and stylish winter wellness
From poolside fireplaces to candlelit thermal suites, and heated outdoor pools, could your next winter warmer be more luxurious than a cup of cocoa?
Read full postThe kids have gone back to school, but the holiday doesn’t have to be over for mum and dad. Making the most of the time you have to yourself, or with one another, on Monday to Friday, why not treat yourself to a short but meaningful spa day? These are the spa experiences giving you luxurious me-time that fits in around the school run…
From 9am until 3pm, the Total Sanctuary spa day at the luxurious Alexander House Hotel and Utopia Spa is all about decadence. Arrive at your leisure, enjoy a 20 minute massage or facial, indulge in a two course lunch or afternoon tea, and lounge around the Neo Classical spa facilities for up to six hours.
If you want to know how to put three hours to excellent use, head to the roof top spa at Rudding Park. This luxury haven has a way of making you feel as though you’ve been on a week long holiday within minutes, and the Morning Roof Top Spa Experience is a blissful mini spa day from 9.30am until 12.30pm - perfectly timed for post school run. Enjoy a drink on arrival, snuggle up in the robe, towel and slippers provided, use of the indoor swimming pool, juniper log sauna and bucket shower as well as relaxing in their exclusive Roof Top Spa and Garden complete with infinity pool, oxygen pod, and saunas and steam rooms that use herbs from the garden itself. If you have a little extra time, you can also add on a two course lunch at Horto Café for £26.
This spa and hotel have been a long standing favourite for the variety of experiences they have to offer, which now includes a Morning Retreat of total pampering from 9.30am until 2pm. Choose a 40 minute treatment from either a Muscle Reviver, Deep Cleansing Back Treatment, Luxury Invigorating Foot Treatment, Bespoke Facial or Luxury Salt and Oil Body Scrub. Take your time to enjoy a 90 minute Fire and Ice Experience and follow it all up with coffee and pastries.
This five star hotel with its marble spa in Kensington is a bit like the dark chocolate of spa breaks. Have just a little and you will feel completely and utterly spoiled. It has a variety of spa days to choose from, where you can opt to spend anything from one to three hours enjoying extravagant treatments and luxuriating in the space. For example, we’re partial to an Express Relief and Meal spa day when you get a 30 minute treatment, full use of the facilities, and a two course lunch or afternoon tea to enjoy.
In a Grade II listed former Magistrate’s Court in the heart of London, Sanook Spa is a five star retreat designed for city chic luxury. Again, here most packages are designed to be enjoyed for up to about three or four hours, and we rather love the Relax and De-stress spa day. It includes a 40 minute treatment followed by a herbal infusion tea and complete with 90 minutes’ use of the facilities.
Designed specifically with mum in mind and perfect for a solo spa day or one that you share with a friend, Careys Manor has come up trumps with their Mum’s Spa Escape Spa Day. Arrive at 10am for a healthy breakfast and with freedom to enjoy the facilities until 3pm. Relax with a 60 minute facial or massage and enjoy lunch in the Zen Garden Thai Restaurant wrapped up in your robe and slippers.
