Macdonald Bath Spa Hotel sits within a beautiful Regency property which dates back to 1835. It was originally built as a private house for General Augustus Andrews. It first opened as a hotel in 1912 before it was taken over by the admiralty during the war, before being used as a school and a nurses' home. It underwent a huge renovation and became a hotel again in the 1990s under the Rocco Forte collection, before being bought by the Macdonald in 2006.

Meanwhile, as is the tradition of Macdonald leisure facilities, there is also a collection of therapies and beauty treatments available using Elemis and Jessana by Jessica products as well as offering reflexology and hopi ear candling.
Please note that on a Tuesday and Thursday morning between 9:30am and 11:00am there is a Members Aqua Fitness class in the indoor pool meaning this will not be open to guests at this time. The outdoor pool and sauna are still in use in this time.
Subtly embedded into the historic spa town that is Bath, Macdonald Bath Spa Hotel is a five-star destination in an elegant Regency mansion, and today boasts 129 rooms and suites, many of which look out onto the property’s landscaped gardens.
Amongst the columns of the former ballroom, the Vellore restaurant is the hotel’s fine dining experience, which has been awarded two AA Rosettes as testimony of its culinary success. For something a little lighter there is also The Alfresco & Terrace; the Drawing Room serves teas and coffees throughout the day; and the Colonnade and Rotunda Bars are open for drinks and cocktails as well.
The Bath Spa are currently undergoing essential maintenance on their relaxation room. Unfortunately it is currently therefore not in use. We do not have an exact time scale of when works will be completed, but will keep you up to date regarding this.
