At a glance
A contemporary hotel that manages to bring luxury and a real sense of relaxation into the same space, Saunton Sands Hotel in Devon is also blessed with a really carefully thought out spa and wellness experience, set over three floors and having opened in 2018. All its spa facilities are inspired by its coastal location, treatments are a fusion of some of the industry’s most revered brands, including Kerstin Florian, and there are two pools that sit separately from the spa so as to allow the whole family to enjoy them if they so wish.
While the location is perfect for simply sitting with a good book or going for a walk and enjoying the views, there is plenty to see and do as well. From surfing and waterspouts to sailing to the inspiring Lundy Island on the beautiful MS Oldenburg, to discover its awe-inspiring wildlife, pony trekking on the beach or visiting historic sites like Watermouth Castle, there’s something for everyone.
Saunton Sands Hotel is situated overlooking the beach it is named after, and is surrounded by the World Heritage Braunton Burrows, so the views really are exceptional and the hotel is designed to enjoy them. Carefully considered design means that the double treatment room in the spa has a wide vista of the beach, many of the rooms have sea views, as do the restaurants. There is even the option to have breakfast, lunch or dinner close to the sand on select days at the Beachside Grill.
The location of Saunton Sands Hotel makes for a natural playground for children, offering body boarding and plenty of beach activities, as well as planned activities like the Tara Trail. Throughout the year, under 11s also get two hours of free, supervised childcare each day in the hotel’s playroom.
