My fiancé decided to take me away for a romantic weekend in 2014 and booked this surprise trip for me knowing how much I wanted to go back to Pennyhill Park. Yes, this was my second Pennyhill adventure and I am already planning another one! It is truly a special place to go.
Pennyhill has recently been awarded its second Michelin Star for the Latymer restaurant, which is absolutely wonderful and deserves to be talked about. Michael Wignall (the head chef) is truly extraordinary and his personality shines in his creations. The 10 course tasting menu is incredible and is perfect for a romantic dinner or even a fancy lunch. If someone is looking for an experience that’s all about taste then this is a place to go!
The rooms are huge, spacious and beautifully decorated. They are generally warm pastel colours but each one has a unique twist and is named in connection to rugby. Our room was upgraded to a superior modern room where there was even a TV in the bathroom… of course!
From the minute you arrive you are looked after by a host of friendly hotel staff who offer smiles at every turn. Everyone is extremely polite and helpful and restaurant staff make sure you have everything you need.
Guests can also fill out an order card for the morning so that freshly baked bread is delivered straight from their own bakery! Of course you also get the hunky England rugby squad wandering around the hotel because they frequently train at Pennyhill Park… that’s nothing to do with the customer service, but it’s a nice added bonus!
The spa at Pennyhill Park is a world of its own and an awesome experience whether you are visiting for the day or staying overnight. The changing rooms are a treat all on their own, being huge, opulent, bright and full of spa products, lush seating areas, fresh apples, water and showers which could probably accommodate four people at once! You can take advantage of the massage chairs here which can be used any time of the day because the spa is opened until 10pm! There is a huge variety of facilities including saunas and steam rooms, aroma rooms, laconiums, tropical showers, plunge pool, snow and ice cave, Jacuzzis, a pool with underwater music – you name it, Pennyhill Park has it! The indoor facilities connect to the outdoor facilities where there are different hot tubs, Jacuzzis and an outdoor pool!
For fans of natural living you will love the natural spa product range handmade in Dorset and created exclusively for Pennyhill Park.
