‘Peace on arrival. Health on departure.’ Reads the Latin inscription on the tower at Grayshott – just in case you were in any doubt that this is a location devoted to healthy living. The award winning venue offers everything from a fitness team lead by former Olympian Ravi Viethivaloo to facilities including a spa pool, both indoor and outdoor pools (the latter for the summer months), tennis courts, a nine-hole golf course, yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, Power Plates, relaxation classes, and for something with a little more visual stimulation there is also a cinema.

With the entire venue focusing on the spa, it is fitting that there is also a wide range of treatments to suit all manner of customers including hot stone therapy, Reiki, aromatherapy, massage, wraps, scrubs and floats, hydrotherapy … the list goes on, but you get the idea. Recently they have launched a retreat for post-cancer treatment with the support of ESPA, relaxation classes, and health advice – all tailored to each individual and designed to make guests feel at ease and supported.

Once the home of Poet Laureate, Lord Alfred Tennyson; the manor house that makes up the body of Grayshott Spa Hotel is an inviting red brick and timber construction firmly rooted in the Surrey countryside. Inside, the 59 bedrooms are light and contemporary, overlooking the lawns and all ground floor rooms benefit from patio doors that lead out into the gardens.

The food at Grayshott is the result of a working partnership between the Executive Chef and the dietician, resulting in healthy food that doesn’t compromise on taste. The aim is to provide outstanding cuisine, while ensuring that guests wishing to lose weight are able to as well. Crucially, this is very much a place to enjoy as you want - visit with a friend or loved one, or on your own. The spa has always catered exceptionally for single travellers, even including a sharers table in the restaurant if you would like company with meals.
