In the heart of bustling London, Sofitel SPA is a sanctuary of serenity designed to reinvigorate mind, body and soul. Guests relax under stuccoed ceilings and marbled interiors, in a retreat set over three floors. There is no pool, and the gym is in a separate part of the hotel - this is an experience that’s all about indulgence. Experiences include a Turkish hammam, a Jacuzzi and a relaxation room, all preparing you for tailormade therapies and rituals.
Known as the home of the facial, the spa uses leading French spa brand Sothys in an exquisite array of luxury treatments, as well as patented vortex-fusion technology from HydraFacial for results-driven facials, and therapies from nutrient-rich Codage, which delivers a made-to-measure spa experience. Crucially, award-winning and world-renowned facialist, Su-Man, is a resident practitioner at Sofitel Spa, famed for revitalising the complexions of Hollywood stars including Juliette Binoche.
From the outside, Sofitel London St James is a neo-classical triumph of British architecture, befitting one of London’s most exclusive addresses. Step inside, however, and you might be a little surprised, because this isn’t just a place that embodies classic luxury - it does it with a twist. The magnificent architecture, the glamorous West End lifestyle and English refinement is offset with a touch of audacity. There are 183 rooms, all of which are defined by bold designs that combine classic and contemporary with the best of British and a hint of Paris.
Meanwhile, the Rose Lounge tearoom is practically a loving homage to a Wes Anderson film, and the St James Bar feels like a cosy yet cosmopolitan enclave away from the busy urban life. The cherry on top is the Michelin star restaurant, Wild Honey St James, which fuses classic French cooking with the finest seasonal British produce from Chef Anthony Demetre.
