Step into the spa area and you will be met by the scent of nourishing Sicilian botanicals - picked from Verdura’s Organic Farm in Sicily. Here, there are three therapy rooms, where the proprietary Irene Forte Skincare range is at the heart of the spa treatments. Harnessing 35 years of skincare research and development in their formulations, to deliver results and to gently support the skin. They also use Made for Life Organics, hand blended in Cornwall from 100% organic herbs and flowers, BeauBronz tanning products and OPI for manicures and pedicures.

When it comes to food, Charlie's (named after their patriarch and patron diner, Lord Charles Forte) is the culinary centrepiece of the hotel. A beautifully styled space with warm wood panelling and plush velvet chairs, there's a touch of theatre as you tuck into classic British fare with a modern twist, in a menu by Michelin-starred Adam Byatt, whose grandfather also worked there. Drinks are then served in the equally enchanting Donovan Bar - a place characterised by playful decadence and inspiring cocktails. As you might expect, afternoon tea is served in The Drawing Room - a feast of sandwiches and scones, delicate pastries and premium Champagne. You're in good company as Queen Victoria is believed to have taken hers here too.
