The weather, the people, and of course, the food, convinced Laura Rihani to head to Jordan, and now, as CEO of Discover Jordan, she is encouraging other people to do just the same, at least for a little while, as a new member of the Spabreaks.com family!
My first visit was in 2000, many years ago… I came from the states and it was one of my first overseas trips. It was certainly one I never forgot, I knew I would return one day.
It’s hard to pick just one, Jordan is a GEM and the thing I love most is the warmth of the people, the genuine hospitality! Second would have to be the weather – with over 300 days of sunshine you never have to worry about a rainy day!
I think Spabreakers will most enjoy the natural spa facilities Jordan has to offer. The waters of the Dead Sea and hot water springs of Hamamat Ma’In have been renowned for their therapeutic effects since ancient times. The hotels and spa facilities in Jordan are World Class five star outlets offering a wide variety of treatments with a local touch. We cannot forget the opportunity to visit the wonders of Jordan, the ancient Red Rose City of Petra and the beautiful desert of Wadi Rum, just to name a few!
I ask most of my clients this question and the answer I hear most of the time is that they are surprised at the natural beauty of the country. The landscape is never what they had expected. From the green hills of the North, to the rustic mountainous landscapes of the West, the timeless beauty of the Wadi Rum Desert which captivated Lawrence of Arabia, who descried it as “vast, echoing and godlike”. Along with the history, cultural sites and largest natural spa in the world, the Dead Sea, Jordan will certainly be unforgettable.
My favourite spa treatment is a Turkish Bath. They are actually very common within the culture, locals using them on a daily or weekly basis. A Turkish bath normally starts with a 10-15 minute hot tub soak, but I prefer mine with a glass of wine! Afterwards you will be whisked away to the bathing session, first you will be exfoliated from head to toe, then a full body message, finishing off with a bubbly scrub of warm water. Afterwards you can spend time in the sauna and steam room. A Turkish bath will certainly make you feel alive and refreshed again! I only wish I could enjoy one every day!
China, I would love to visit the Forbidden City and the Great Wall.
With my deep passion for history and nature I think would love to have been an archaeologist or conservationist. But I don’t think I would have had as much fun as I do running Discover Jordan! I can honestly say, I love my job!
I am super excited to have the opportunity to join the Spabreaks.com family, and to offer Jordan as a unique spa destination to all Spabreakers.
Disconnecting from the busy world we surround ourselves in, having time to yourself, and enjoying every minute of it!
Jordan is a safe, liberal, Middle Eastern country. Travellers are free to enjoy themselves as you would anywhere else in the world. Many people are concerned about visiting as a couple, but you do not need to be married and will not be asked any questions. Your privacy as a tourist is well respected. Another question I get quite often is about alcohol. Alcohol is readily available throughout the country and you will have no problems finding a cold beer or bottle of champagne to toast your spa break in Jordan!
