What exactly is Lipofirm?
It’s a one hour treatment, which has two main parts. Firstly you decide which area you want to lose inches from, and then we measure clients and use a marker pen so you know the same area is being measured throughout the treatment. Then you have the main part of the experience – the Cavitation, which is almost like an ultrasound. We then measure clients again to see how many inches they have lost, before continuing with the radio frequency part of the therapy which tightens the skin.
Where does it come from?
It’s from a company in Cardiff, Advanced Aesthetics, and they import it from Italy. This is Lipofirm Extra, which is the updated version of the original treatment, and has been released in the last year or so.
What is it supposed to do?
It is all about inch loss. I was very sceptical initially, as most people are, so I insisted on trying it, and did the failsafe jeans test when I got home. I lost four and a half inches from my legs in my first treatment and another three from my stomach in my second treatment. It works by breaking down the cells that are filled with water and fat when you gain weight, and these are then removed from the body naturally. Once removed, it takes up to two years for them to re-establish themselves, so in that time you won’t regain fat in the same area.
Is there anything you do to enhance the effectiveness of the treatment?
We always advise people to combine the treatment with a healthy eating programme as of course that will help overall weight loss, but this is the lazy person’s way to lose inches. It’s also a good kick start for anyone wanting to lose weight, as seeing the inches disappear is a great confidence boost and encourages you to keep going with a healthy lifestyle.
Is there anything you recommend clients to do pre or post-treatment to get the most out of it?
We don’t recommend having it more than once every 10 days.
Is there anyone you particularly recommend the treatment for?
There isn’t really a standard clientele for it, men and women of all ages are proving fans and it is one of those things that is suitable for a wide range of people because you can target different areas.
Is there anyone who shouldn’t have this treatment and why?
It isn’t suitable for pregnant women, and if you have a particular health condition that you are taking medication for it is best to discuss it with therapist beforehand.
