A cynical, commercial calendar event it may appear to be, but there is a reason we all get so wrapped up in Mother’s Day … it’s because mums are really awesome and do actually deserve a day that’s all about them. So what would they like to receive this Sunday? We asked mummy Spabreakers across the country what’s on their wish list!
Kate and Scarlett-Rose (aged seven)
For Mother’s Day I would love to be given a voucher for a spa treatment or pampering treatments. I am a mum of four children from 14 to seven and carer to my two youngest children who have type 1 Diabetes. I don’t get a lot of me-time so that would be wonderful!
Abi, Aver and Freddie (aged three and six)
This year for Mother’s Day I would like to spend the day having carefree fun with my children. I want to turn off my phone and emails, and just for a few hours not worry about a thing!
Claire and Bump (since this chat ‘bump’ has become a beautiful baby girl named Lola!)
This is going to be my first Mother’s Day and I would like to have a pedicure because I reached the point the other day when I had to ask my husband to help me cut my toenails, which I would rather not do again!
Sarah and Angelo (aged four)
I would love to have a lie in and then be woken up by Angelo and have brunch in bed watching Milkshake (It’s Angelo’s favourite morning programme). I would then freshen up with a shower and get ready for the day using any of the Rituals shower foams (they are thick and full of scent, great for a really luxurious shower). Then I would apply my favourite, can’t-live-without-it beauty product, Elemis Pro-Radiance Illuminating Flash Balm for a glowing feel good factor! After that I would take a stroll with Angelo while he rides his bike, followed by a family dinner. To end my perfect day I would have a long, relaxing bath using my favourite ESPA bath oil and finish with their body oil for that silky smooth feel and total relaxed mind. Finally I would grab the popcorn and snuggle up in a freshly made bed to watch a movie!
Robyn and Hattie (aged three)
I’d really like an introductory flying lesson at Turweston airfield! You’ve got to set your sights high!
Cheryl and Lance (aged two)
Firstly I am glad that the day is in spring when all the crocuses, tulips, and hyacinths are in bloom – I love flowers if you hadn’t already gathered! On Mother’s Day I would like to start with a vegetarian breakfast and a glass of orange juice, with Lance around a full breakfast is a luxury as I am generally sipping my jasmine green tea just moments before leaving the house. I would love to schedule in a full body massage, which is one of my favourite treatments, and would like to try a hot stone massage to ease my tense shoulders … aaaaaah heaven! Amid the general day-to-day joys and challenges, ups and downs, smiles and tears, of motherhood, that would be a really lovely day!
Decca, Bump, and Betty (aged one)
For Mother’s Day I would like a day, or even and few hours, of relaxation. To switch off and be totally looked after would be heavenly! With spring just about here it would be nice to give my body a ‘spring clean’ with lovely massages, scrubs, and pedis to feel ready for the sunshine … when it’s arrives!
