Sometimes you just need a little time to yourself, so here Claire Holt gives her top reasons why a solo spa break could be your stress solution!
We all know that stress is bad for us and can have long term negative effects on our health, but it’s amazing what some serious me-time can do when you use it wisely!
Me-Time Massages: Massage is one of the most beneficial treatments for people suffering from stress (which let’s face it, we all do), so with a day all to yourself it’s a good opportunity to book in a really long treatment to relax muscles and improve blood circulation around the body. The increased blood flow brings with it its own set of health benefits such as reduced blood pressure, increased oxygen supply to organs and muscles, as well as the removal of potentially harmful waste products. It can also lead to improved sleep patterns, which in turn helps to reduce stress levels.
Splash Out: We’re all very good at spoiling those around us, but how often do you treat yourself? Making your next spa break all about you means that you can focus on what you really want out of the experience, get it all booked in before you go, head to somewhere you have always dreamt of going, and totally splash out! Particularly keep an eye out for offers that dispense with single supplements on overnight breaks – that’s an extra treatment right there!
Not the Norm: The simple change of environment can work wonders for your perspective and general wellbeing. Just being away from home in new surroundings where you can escape from the daily grind can do you the world of good. Spa breaks abroad are particularly great for this, with new cultures and a better climate proving the cherry on top! Sample new foods, listen to another language, and temporarily immerse yourself in a different way of life. This complete change from your everyday can be a great way of dealing with stress, particularly with those aforementioned massages!
Plan for Pleasure: In the midst of a busy week it can be difficult to take a step back and realise that you need a break, but when you have one to look forward to it’s wonderful! Spontaneity is always a welcome pleasure, but forward planning gives the added bonus of anticipation, while you are safe in the knowledge that everything is sorted and taken care of – it’s not like we need anything else to worry about . For this reason, a little forward planning is a wondrous thing; remember, when you go solo, it’s all about you – so think about what you want, talk to the sales consultants who can make sure you get it, and book in advance. You won’t regret it!
