Discarding the effects of winter months and central heating, Stoke Park, talks about the Thalgo facial that’s the perfect way to start the summer!

What exactly is the treatment?

The Thalgo Moisture Quench Facial is a hydrating treat suitable for all skin types and it’s perfect for this time of year as we emerge from the winter months!  The treatment commences with a Sounds of the Sea welcome touch, which is a routine designed to relax a client into their facial treatment and is a real opportunity for the client to unwind so that they get the full relaxation benefit of their treatment. As this is a Thalgo treatment and they are a marine based brand, Sounds of the Sea is unique to them and true to their heritage.  The client is then relaxed by a series of movements, some of which mimic the sound of waves rolling in and out of the beach to aid relaxation.  Thalgo’s signature cleansing ritual is then performed and tailored to suit your specific skin type so that your skin concerns are addressed and targeted. The cleansing ritual includes an exfoliation to remove any dry and dead skin cells which, after the winter months, will really help to brighten a dull complexion. The facial will include a face, neck and shoulder massage using an ultra hydrating facial serum, working on key areas of tension to make sure you are relaxed and de-stressed. The real hero product in this facial is the Hydra-Mask Moisture Source, it is a truly hydrating moisture treatment mask featuring active marine ingredients to limit water loss within the skin, hydrate, soften and boost the skin’s natural barrier. The mask will improve skin texture, combat dehydration, and leave the skin feeling soft and radiant.

Where does it come from?

This facial has been developed by Thalgo, the originators of marine beauty who have 50 years experience of working with algae. The Seve Marine range which is used for the moisture quench facial has a powerful hydrating ingredient which is extracted from a small green algae called BLINDIGIA MINIMA. This algae has remarkable hydrating properties, it lives between the high and low tides and is therefore subjected to all possible climatic variations. It charges itself with all those elements needed for its survival, so when there are any climatic variations it can continue to survive for 14 days without water.

What is it supposed to do?

This treatment is an extremely hydrating facial suitable for all skin types but particularly dehydrated skin. The facial features the Absolute Hydration range from Thalgo, with Marine ingredient Seve Marine which will combat signs of dehydration, leaving skin feeling softer with improved skin texture and allowing the face to regain its true features.

Is there anything you do to enhance the effectiveness of the treatment?

A product called Marine Nectar Oil can be mixed in with the massage cream for the facial to increase the hydration to the skin. This product contains algae lipids known to hydrate and repair the skin, apricot kernel oil to soften and purify, and hemp oil to restructure and repair the skin.  We soak all of our mitts prior to a facial in aquatic essence, a soothing lotion to help sooth the skin during the facial treatment but it also gives an amazing aroma for the clients whilst enjoying their treatment.  All of our treatment rooms are set up to be an extremely relaxing environment with heated blankets, dimmed lighting with candles flickering, and a choice of music to soothe you whilst the treatment is carried out.

Is there anything you recommend clients do pre or post treatment to get the most out of it?

We would recommend you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your treatment with us so that we can get you into a robe and slippers and you can start your relaxation process. If you are safe to use the steam room we would recommend you use that before your facial in order so open the pores and enable the ingredients to really get into the skin.  We would recommend you drink plenty of water after the treatment and use the skincare recommended to you by your therapist to ensure you continue the benefits of your treatment at home.  I would also recommend you use the relaxation room and facilities here after your treatment so that you get the most from the relaxation process.

Is there anyone you particularly recommend this treatment for?

This treatment is ideal for all skin types, clients of all ages, and for men and women. Most clients will suffer from dehydrated skin due to the climate that we live in and environments we work in. At this time of year, having had a lot of exposure to central heating, is a particularly good time to treat dehydrated, dull, and tired complexions.

Is there anyone who shouldn’t have this treatment and why?

This facial doesn’t really have any contraindications, all skin types and all ages can have it and it is safe during pregnancy.  If a client has a serious health issue such as cancer or heart problems then we can still carry out the treatment as long as they have consent from their consultant.
