As a child I often wondered how my mother was able to spend so much time in the bathroom. These days I am baffled that she didn’t live in there, because for me the idea of a good night has increasingly become dominated by a hot bath and some alone time with the latest skincare product that happens to have found its way into my repertoire. I know, I know, you’re wondering how I cope, but somehow I am surviving.
The latest favourite is the brainchild of spa therapist, Melissa Mainwaring, who also happens to be a pretty important member of the Spabreaks.com team. In her guise as The Celtic Therapist, she has created a range of massage candles which use eco friendly soy wax and essential oils, not to mention some seriously dinky personalised labels.
Initially created in response to a massage client’s request, the supremely gentle products are candles which melt down into a massage oil and can also be used as a body lotion if you don’t happen to have a masseuse to hand (perfect for aching muscles and for really helping to sort out any dry skin). They come in six different scents including mandarin and pachouli, coconut, ylang-ylang, sandalwood and vanilla, and eucalyptus and mint. If you have some time to kill you can even use the oil as a hair mask.
Personally I am a complete fan of ylang-ylang – good for boosting your mood, calming you down, and particularly good for the skin, so I am thanking my lucky stars that the candle has 40 hours burn time because I am certainly getting my £12 worth at the moment. So next time you have a bath, light a Celtic Therapist candle at the start, sit and soak with good book and a face mask, and when you get out you will have a ready made heated moisturiser waiting for you. If only you had a personal therapist to hand as well.
