Since then the retreats have had an incredible response and it has been our great pleasure to help people have a break and a little pampering when they most deserve it, in the knowledge that everything they are being treated with is safe and gentle.
So imagine our excitement when we received a letter (well, an email) to tell us that all our hard work has been part of the inspiration behind a nationwide body of research for institutional change.
Spa Life Academy Research commissioned research across the wellbeing landscape and have identified key areas of resistance that are perpetuating the disruptive relationship between spa goers with cancer and the spas themselves. They are now inviting key industry leaders including Spabreaks.com to help spearhead the changes needed.
Aiming to provide free education to therapists and institutions across the country to create greater cancer awareness amongst practitioners, the goal is to make sure that by the end of 2015, not one of the 33% of the population directly affected by cancer is turned away from the spas, salons, clubs and clinics that should be a source of sanctuary.
Watch this space, it’s going to be a groundbreaking year in the spa world!
