Have you ever wondered how Kim and all of the Kardashian girls have achieved such flawless looking skin? Well the secret is called ‘baking’! Kim’s personal make-up artist let the cat out of the bag recently and now we’re all giving it a go!
Baking has actually been around for a while now, it is very popular in drag circles, giving them a picture-perfect finish and emphasising or highlighting particular areas of their face. The beauty of this technique is that you can highlight areas of the face without adding shine. Especially great if you have oily skin. Baking takes a little longer than your average routine, but the results are well worth the wait!
Start with your usual routine. Primer, moisturiser and foundation. I also start my eyeshadow and eyebrows before baking. Just stop before you add bronzer, blusher, eyeliner and mascara.
Start to apply liquid concealer under your eyes and down to the top of your cheekbone. You can apply more than you usually would; this method prevents creasing so it won’t end up settling into your fine lines. Using a sponge blend the concedes let into your foundation. At this stage the concealer should appear to be too light for your skin tone.
Using a make-up sponge start to dab on some foundation powder – I am using MAC Mineralise Skin Finish in Light. Keep dabbing on until you have covered the concealed area in a thick layer. You can also add above the eyebrows in the middle of your forehead and to your chin. Leave for 10 minutes to ‘bake’!
Using a powder brush, blend your baked makeup so that there are no harsh lines or obvious points of difference. If you want you can use a slightly darker powder at this stage to even out the tones. Then proceed to your final steps with blusher, bronzer, lips and your eyes.
This is a great look for a night out which will give you a flawless look all night long!
