The first thing that strikes you on visiting this hotel is just how peaceful the location is given its proximity to Belfast itself. It’s just 10 minutes from the airport, so it’s incredibly easy to access, and it’s surrounded by that characteristic verdant green that Ireland does so well.
The hotel is modern within the historic grounds of the Castle Upton Estate, which dates back to 1611. It looks out across the golf course which is a wonderful view to wake up to in the morning, and is a polished golf and country club that exudes a sense of modern leisure and wellbeing.
It’s a shame not to take advantage of the location when you’re here so as a result I highly recommend taking a stroll around the grounds or even trying your hand at golf if you’re not already a seasoned player. There’s a driving range as well as the course itself so it’s all very accessible and friendly and there’s also a putting green and tennis if the weather is right. The spa itself however includes a gym, pool, steam room and sauna, and three treatment rooms where they use Clarins and He-shi products for guests over the age of 16 only. Their aqua journey is a beautiful experience and really worth taking the time to enjoy, and staff are extremely knowledgeable about skincare so if you have any questions, now’s the time to ask!
Templepatrick Village is in the shadow of Castle Upton Estate, so it’s worth a little wander around this pretty corner of Ireland to get a feel for its history. Beyond that however, the hotel is well located for easy access into Belfast and everything it has to offer by way of cultural hotspots and retail therapy, and it’s also a great base from which to explore Giant’s Causeway and the nearby beaches although a car is helpful.
The restaurant is known for its beef as well as its locally sourced produce, particularly in Treffner’s which is the main dining area. There’s a bar/brasserie for lighter meals in a more relaxed environment – watching sport and things, to give you a better idea of the vibe. They also serve light lunches, drinks and cocktails so it’s a very flexible environment to head into when you want a break in the day.
Cool, calm and contemporary are the words that come to mind at Hilton Templepatrick. The hotel has the modernity and sleek edge of a city hotel but with the relaxing atmosphere and beautiful grounds of a country estate, making it ideal for guests who want a short getaway from the city without travelling too far!
