Beauty: the definition

Beauty means different things to different people, and it really has very little to do with what you look like.

As it turns out, some of the most stereotypically beautiful women in the world (inside and out) have pretty unconventional thoughts when it came to beauty . From Marilyn Monroe to Audrey Hepburn, Coco Chanel to Diana Vreeland, here is some of our favourite quotes  from  women around the world, that are the key to their eternal beauty…

1) Audrey Hepburn

Audrey Hepburn was known for her beauty and her kindness as well as her charming film roles, so her words of wisdom seem like a good place to start when it comes to beauty tips.

2) Marilyn Monroe

In more recent years Marilyn Monroe has been praised for her wit as well as her wow-factor. Clearly this was a woman who knew what she was doing.

3) Coco Chanel

Coco Chanel may well be considered the queen of fashion even to this day.  One tough cookie who was self made in an era that made it very difficult for women to be a commercial success, she clearly kept her feet firmly and strongly on the ground.  She may not have rubbed everyone up the right way, but there’s something extremely beautiful about a woman who worked so hard, followed her dreams and turned them into something wonderful for so many other people to enjoy.  Plus, she wanted us to be comfortable, and we can’t help but love her for that.

4) Diana Vreeland

Diana Vreeland was a noted fashion columnist for Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue. She became editor of Harper’s Bazaar and was noted for taking fashion seriously. Another tough cookie, her colleague Richard Avedon said: “she was and remains the only genius fashion editor”.

5) Emma Watson

Emma Watson is definitely one of the most beautiful women in the world. Not just because she is aesthetically lovely, but more than that, she’s a girl with a mind of her own and she’s using it for the greater good, for men as well as women.

6) Helen Mirren

The acclaimed and outspoken actress seems to get more beautiful by the year.  Now in her seventies her favourite phrase is one not suitable for this blog and her advice is as sound as ever.

7) Angelina Jolie

Controversial and beautiful in many, many ways, Angelina Jolie has been through her fair share of images changes.  Nonetheless, she remains true to one thing, she always marches to the beat of her own drummer and champions the individual.

8) Jennifer Aniston

No woman’s private life has ever been speculated on as much sa Jen’s.  The girl next door has turned into a serious woman of substance, and what we love most about her, is that she kinda seems like the sort of woman we would want as our best friend.

9) Michelle Obama

The woman of the moment should really be Hillary Clinton, but Michelle Obama seems to have been holding that role for the last eight years and continues to be a shining light for all women and youg girls.  Her advice doesn’t adhere to aesthetic beauty, but it is the thinking that makes her shine.

10) Emma Stone

One of America’s best emerging actresses, Emma Stone has shone in all of her roles.  A chameleon on screen and the queen of old school elegance off screen, she’s also got a way with words it seems…
