From longer bleisure to a eco travel, what can you expect to see from spa trends in 2017?
Longer spa breaks
The secret’s out, going on a spa break is a really, really, really nice thing to do. It’s fun, it can help your health and wellbeing; it’s basically a little mini holiday in between the longer ones. As a result, spa goers are beginning to feel that a spa day isn’t quite enough, and increasingly Spabreaks.com is seeing an increase in requests for two night breaks amongst our cherished clientele. Well, ask and you shall receive as we bring on even more two night spa packages this year.
Longer spa treatments
It’s not just the breaks that are getting longer, it’s the treatments as well. Historically, 25-minute treatments have been the staple of spa breaks, with the option to upgrade if you choose. As spas and spa goers realise that 25-minutes is never quite enough, more spas are offering longer treatments within spa packages for your enjoyment, and increased wellbeing. The change is lead by customer demand, as all good changes are, with the acknowledgement that a 55-minute treatment really does hold an incredible number of benefits. It is also part of an increasing trend in health, as we collective realise the importance of wellbeing and the role that spas can plan within that for regular health maintenance.
Seasonal breaks and therapies
Therapists and skincare lines are increasingly talking about the importance of changing our skincare products (and treatments) with the seasons and listening to what our skin wants at different times of the year. After all, you change your clothes with the temperature so why not your skincare as well? It all ties in with a more personalised approach – after all, we’re all unique!
Luxury spa breaks
Spabreaks.com incorporates an extremely wide variety of products. It’s a luxury industry but it has a huge number of facets so in 2017 Spabreaks.com is working on a new luxury site to highlight venues that would benefit from a different nuance to their marketing and sales because they take the spa experience to another level. It’s designed to make the search process easier for customers visiting Spabreaks.com, refining the ability to find the right type of break for you. Given the breadth of opportunity in the spa world, it’s important to us to make that search process as easy as possible and to market the spas we offer as accurately as possible. Our ethos is entirely about accessibility so making sure our websites have clear direction is designed to enhance that – watch this space!
Continuing to open up the spa industry
Spabreaks.com is extremely proud of its work in making the spa industry more accessible for cancer patients, which of course is an ongoing process. We have even more venues joining our Recovery Retreats sector this year, which is extremely exciting, but we are also looking forward to continuing our work to make the spa industry more accessible as a whole and in less obvious ways. It’s hard for a lot of people to remember, but when we started eight years ago, the spa industry was very limited in what it offered. What we have aimed to do is open the industry up and show what it can really do – it’s about spa days, spa breaks, afternoon tea, health, wellbeing, group getaways, romantic mini breaks, babymoons, spa days for men… we have even had a spa stag do booked through us! You can have a spa day for £20 or £2,000, and we have more than 850 venues and counting that are testament to that, not to mention 861,346 spa travellers booked to date (more by the time you read this). Here’s to another year of making spa dreams come true!
The bleisure boom
‘Have laptop, will travel’ is the modern mantra as the line between leisure and business travel blurs even further this year. In 2017, more people are exploring the world by working business hours at their day job and then exploring in their time off, adding extra days to their business trips and bringing loved ones with them. Where there’s Wi-Fi there’s a way.
Eco Travel
Sustainable, responsible tourism has been slowly making its voice heard over time, and now it’s shouting loud above the crowd. Eco travel is one of 2017’s top travel trends with travellers looking for sustainable hotels and travel options all the way from food sourcing to spa products.
