When you first arrive, the hotel looks a bit like an office block, but once you get in, it’s ultra contemporary, light and lovely to be in. Slightly outside the main city, it only takes a couple of minutes to get there, which is perhaps one of the (many) reasons it’s got such a high flying reputation and is so popular with celebrities.
Everyone here is lovely; we couldn’t fault them, everything was so on point. We’re not from the area and they gave lots of recommendations, but the way they spoke to us felt really personal and high end; you feel like a VIP.
The rooms at The Lowry are again really contemporary, but they are also a really good size. They have floor to ceiling windows and views of the city across the river, which make for an ideal backdrop, but considering we mostly wanted to relax while we were there, the room made for a lovely place to spend time as well as a place to rest your head.
We had room service instead of going to the restaurant, and it was like no room service we’ve ever experienced before. Rather than the bog standard tray, they wheel up a table and set it with flowers and actually had dinner in our room which was really nice. It’s really worth doing if you don’t want to go down to dinner. We had Prosecco with dinner and the food was lovely – we were classy and had a burger and chips. We had it for breakfast as well that comes up on a table with a heater to keep it warm as it comes up. It was set out really well. Almost a restaurant experience which is nice.
This is where the magic happens. I had the oxygen mask facial again, and I really can’t fault them. The first one I had was amazing and for weeks afterwards I didn’t have spots. I had thought it was a novelty, this time it was an hour and my skin has been amazing again – they’re brilliant at what they do, I can’t fault them.
The QMS treatments at The Lowry are all medically created – it’s the kind of place you should really go to for the treatments – it’s got limited spa facilities, but you feel amazing afterwards. If you spa a lot and are really interested in your treatments it’s definitely the place to go – they really know what they’re doing. If you’re a pro spa goer then this is the place to go. It’s expensive but that’s for a reason – it’s tried and tested and it works – I would go back every month if I could.
The beauty of The Lowry is that it caters for everything and everyone. You can have a high end experience by either going out or staying in, because the hotel is so lovely. Go as a couple, go if you want a treatment focused weekend, and you can still get into the city and go out and shop. It’s got everything from that point of view.
