In the words of our very own Product Manager Danielle, “it’s adorable”. It’s so modern and so elegant throughout, with different vibes in each room but all brought together beautifully, she says, and she should know, she’s an expert.
While the spa is modern, the hotel is the exact opposite. It’s wonderfully characterful – for example, in the bar area there are log fires and wooden beams – it’s got a real country pub feel. It’s quite small although it doesn’t feel like it. ‘Classic’ would probably be the word to describe it. When it comes to the rooms, we were the presidential suite (they saw us coming) which is huge and beautiful and has a Champagne bar that’s only open at certain times. When you’re walking up to the suite the stairs are all wonky because the building is so old, but once there it has its own kitchen, living room, bathroom, and a separate room with twin beds, so it’s often used as a bridal suite. There’s a massive dressing room area (it reminded me of Beauty and the Beast) – it’s really pretty and on a massive scale. The other rooms still have that character just on a smaller scale.
The spa has only been open for a year and it’s huge, with a blue and purple glow throughout and massive dark grey lounges so you can sit on by the pool complete with blankets so you can get properly cosy before a dip. There’s a thermal area including a Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and experience shower which is cute and intimate, while upstairs there are three treatment rooms and a relax room which are all neutral in colour. The relaxation room is a light space with a pedicure station in one corner so it’s designed more for chatting than sleeping. Then there’s an outdoor area looking out onto the surrounding hills and fields that Malvern is famous for.
The hotel has its own restaurant, but for today’s purpose I want to focus on the spa cafe, which continues that modern feel and has bright pink and bright green chairs. It’s really funky but it all works seamlessly – the design is so clever, and it’s lovely to have a dedicated dining area specifically for the spa.
The hotel is outside the main town, looking out onto the Malvern Hills close by, so it really is incredibly pretty. As a result, when you’re here, in addition to using the spa, it would be remiss not to get out and about walking and exploring. It’s also really easy to get to, situated on a chocolate box street but also not far from Malvern.
Malvern View Spa is a place that’s perfect for couples, smaller groups, mother/daughter breaks and people who like character and history. It’s not huge, but it does everything perfectly, we really don’t have a bad word to say about it.
