- How do you get to the Hazlewood Castle Spa?
Getting to the hotel is easy by car, bus or helicopter. If you're driving, from J44 on the A1/M, head towards York on the A64, turn left Tadcaster A659, Sherburn (A162) turn off, then first right to the join the opposite carriageway of the A64, brown signs will then direct to Hazlewood Castle which is a turn off on the left hand side.
Hazlewood Castle permits helicopters to land in the grounds please call ahead for instructions. Meanwhile, the coastliner bus stops at the bottom of our drive, please note the drive is approx. 1.5 miles long so be prepared.

Hazlewood Castle has been part of a family estate of the Vavasours since Norman times and was first mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1086. It has 1000 years of history, including Sir William Vavasour's 1290 petition to crenellate his manor, transforming it from a house into a castle. Hazlewood Castle became a hotel in 1997, having had periods as a maternity hospital during World War I and a retreat center for the Carmelite friars. The castle was purchased by the Ashdale Hotels group in 2008 and the spa was added in 2014.

The Castle dates back to around 1086, and as an ancient building it is not designed for accessibility. However the hotel has put details in place to support all guests. Accessible information includes:

- All guests should use the main entrance of the hotel which is clearly signposted. There are 21 steps, the ground is paved and there is a handrail

- There are three sets of public toilets within the Main castle Building, one set in the restaurant and two sets within the conference and banqueting facilities. One set of toilets within the banqueting facilities has a unisex access toilet. The flooring is short pile fitted carpet. There is also an accessible toilet on the ground floor of the St. Leonard's block featuring a low sink
- The Restaurant is situated in the tower cellar, access is external via two steps down or a slope the main door is full glass, access from the main hotel is via reception steps (12 with handrail) There is a Host Station on entry to the
- Restaurant where staff will seat you at a table
