The subterranean spa at K West is characterised by a beautiful combination of wooden floors, glass divides where steamy cabins and icy rooms await. Facilities are all about relaxation and rejuvenation. There is a gym in a separate part of the hotel, but in the main spa everything focuses around the heat and ice ethos. There’s also a glass panelled hydrotherapy pool, a Scandinavian sauna, sanarium, steam room, foot spa and little booths down the side of the room that allow you to relax in semi-privacy.
When you’ve finished with the heat and ice, there is a relaxation room complete with headsets should you wish to shut out any of the surrounding silence, as well as a sleep inducing Sun Meadow room designed to offer gentle light therapy to help relieve the symptoms of S.A.D. (Seasonal Affective Disorder). As if that’s not enough, there is a long list of holistic massages, facials, rituals and finishing touches as well.
Modern design prevails throughout the hotel in various earth tones and shades of white with the ultra-chic atmosphere only tempered by the infectious smiles of members of staff from the moment you walk through the door. Discretion is clearly one of the hotel’s many assets, which will explain why it is a favourite in the world of celebrity.
The first thing you see upon entering the hotel is the Studio Bar which offers light bites, teas and coffees in the day and a decorative fireplace running the length of the wall that also makes it a particularly nice place for an aperitif in the evening when DJs set the scene. For something a little more substantial on the food front there is also the Studio Kitchen, who provides an intriguing fusion menu that’s also casual enough to enjoy without pomp and circumstance.
