Shrigley Hall was originally built around 1825 for William Turner, a Blackburn mill owner and MP. The architect was Thomas Emmet senior from Preston. In the 20th century, the building was used as a Catholic school, which is when the chapel was added. The property was later converted into a hotel and country club in 1989.

Accessible facilities include:
- The hotel’s main car park is located at the rear of the building with a ramp leading down to the main reception area. There are limited spaces at the front of the property with two disabled bays.
- Shrigley Hall has one accessible double, accessed via a lift to the first floor and one accessible twin, accessed via lift to the second floor. These rooms have widened doorways to accommodate those using a wheelchair. The bathroom of both bedrooms consists of a lowered bath and handrails.
- There are a number of bedrooms with a walk-in shower, however, these are located at the rear of the property and steps are required to access this area of the hotel.
- The ground floor of the hotel comprises the hotel reception, bar and restaurant along with two function rooms (William Turner & Ellen Turner).
- The bar and restaurant are fully accessible, and the restaurant contains a lift down to the main area. The Ellen Turner Suite is fully accessible, and the William Turner has three steep steps.
- There are four steps up to the front door with a disabled entrance to the right.
- A disabled toilet is available on the ground floor near to the restaurant.
- The Spa can be accessed via an external ramp however, all internal facilities contain steps to enter.
- The Tilden Suite function room is based within the old chapel at the rear of the building. There are two steps leading into the Tilden Suite and a ramp can be provided.
