The hotel’s dining area has been awarded two AA Rosettes, but to say it is a restaurant seems misleading – it is more like having dinner at the home of an extremely lavish friend.

Spa & Leisure

Next to the historic design of the main building, the spa at Spread Eagle Hotel boasts Scandinavian-style architecture with vaulted wooden ceilings housing the fitness suite, pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room - looking out onto a small but perfectly formed garden. Also on offer are exercise classes, yoga and Pilates in a Medieval-style function room that is really something to behold.

Opting for organic British skincare brand Temple Spa, renowned for their use of unadulterated fresh ingredients and taking inspiration from the Mediterranean diet, there are a range of feel-good treatments on offer as well, from wraps and facials to massages, manicures, pedicures and finishing touches.

Hotel & Accommodation

Surrounded by the picturesque market town of Midhurst, it is fitting that the hotel’s own roots are inextricably linked with the area’s history as a coaching inn dating back to 1430. With leather chairs in the 15th century lounge, oak beams, and a huge open fire it retains its sense of the past not least of all with its Queen’s Suite, said to have accommodated Elizabeth I in 1591. The hotel is dog friendly.

The grand dining area is overseen by Head Chef Richard Cave-Toye serves a quintessentially British menu and has been awarded two AA Rosettes. During the summer, lunch is served is the less formal conservatory, on the terrace or in the inner courtyard – making the most of the hotel’s beautiful, understated gardens.
