Set in a 20,000-acre estate in the North Yorkshire countryside, the Swinton Estate is half a mile from the small market town of Masham which is eight miles from Ripon and 32 miles from the historic city of York. Easiest to drive to, leaving the A1 at Junction 50. There is plenty of parking on site. The nearest airport is Teeside, 32 miles away, while Leeds Bradford is 35 miles away. You can travel to Swinton Park by helicopter with Multiflight. The nearest station is Thirsk, which is 25-minutes away by taxi.

Construction on Swinton Park was started in 1695 by Sir Abstrupus Danby, and was added to by his successors during the 1760s. The family converted the property into a hotel in 2001.

Having launched in the summer of 2017, the Swinton Country Club and Spa is spacious, contemporary and luxurious, reflecting its 20,000-acre environment and Yorkshire heritage. Amidst woodland and lakes populated by fallow deer, it is a world class spa facility with a beautiful 18-metre lap pool surrounded by glass and with a choice of massage features, a classic steam room, an aroma steam room using seasonal natural fragrances and a Finnish sauna. In addition to the gym, fitness options include a series of parkland programmes such as boot camps, mindfulness walks, running and hiking.
Outside there is an alfresco sauna and shower as well as a 10 metre outdoor natural pool that offers environmentally friendly, natural bathing in bio-filtered water. On the first floor there is a treatment suite including three zoned relaxation rooms, eight treatment rooms including two couples’ suites, a welcome lounge and a home-care advice centre. There’s also a beauty cottage including a treatment room, and within the Club, The Terrace restaurant and bar features estate grown seasonal produce.
The ancestral seat of the Earl of Swinton, dating back to the 1880s, Swinton Park is a luxury castle hotel in the Yorkshire Dales. Situated at the heart of the 20,000 acre Swinton Estate which stretches from the River Ure in Wensleydale up onto the moors, the lavish country house combines warmth and grandeur as well as contemporary conveniences across 31 rooms that are located on both the first and second floors. There are five suites, including one set on three floors in the Turret, all with spacious sitting rooms.
With three AA Rosettes to its name, Samuel’s Restaurant has multiple awards for its menu of seasonal, sustainable and local produce, much of which is from the hotel’s own four acre walled garden. For the real foodies, an upgrade to the Tasting Menu is highly recommended and afternoon tea in the Drawing Room or, in summer months, on the Terrace is a must. A Chef’s Table dining experience in the Cookery School is also something truly unique, or you can get an apron on have a go yourself on a whole host of cookery courses that run throughout the year.
