Whatley Manor is owned by the Landolt family, who have been custodians of the estate since 2000. They spent a lot of time restoring the property, including redesigning the gardens to their original Arts and Crafts style, adding the spa, and converting the stables into a private events space with a cinema.
- How do you get to Whatley Manor Hotel and Spa?
Whatley Manor is in Easton Grey, near Malmesbury in Wiltshire. The property is set within 12 acres of gardens and is easily accessible by car with free parking for guests. If you're driving, travel along the A46 in the relevant direction, turn onto the B4040, from which you turn onto the Whatley Manor driveway. There are also two Porsche and two Tesla charging points and one general charging point for electric vehicles.The nearest train station is Chippenham, approximately 10 miles away, from where taxis or local buses can be used to reach the hotel. It takes around one hour and 15 minutes to travel from London Paddington to Chippenham or Kemble and the taxi transfer from Chippenham is 25 minutes. International airports include London Heathrow (one hour 30 minutes) Bristol International (one hour) and Birmingham International (two hours). Kemble air field caters for the landing of private jets and helicopters.

Originally named Twatley Manor, which was an abbreviation of “To the wet lea”, Whatley Manor was originally a farmhouse on a farm estate called Twatley Farm which was rebuilt in the 18th century. The estate was bought in 1857 by Mr T G Smith who became the lord of Easton Grey Manor. The property was added to over time, passing to different owners, and becoming a packing station for Red-Cross parcels during the First World War. In 1961 the estate was divided up and renamed Whatley Manor. In 2000 it was sold to Marco and Alix Landolt, who painstakingly restored the house and transformed its 12 acres of land into 26 distinctive gardens, many of them based on the original 1920’s plans. The hotel opened its doors in 2003.

- Valet parking is available
- Entrance to the hotel is over a cobbled courtyard
- Your luggage will be collected from your car on arrival and delivered to your room
- There is a rug on a polished stone floor in reception that's is suitable for wheelchair users
- Accounting and credit card payment facilities are portable and brought to the guests for their convenience
- Reception is all on one level
- Corridors are well lit and there are polished stone floors with rugs which may need some guidance for people with walking difficulties
- There are four steps up to the Reception Hall where The Sitting Room, Drawing Room are accessed from. These steps can be covered by a portable ramp suitable for wheelchair access
- The hotel lounge bar is accessed on the same level as the Reception Area
- The Drawing Room may be accessed via a ramp
- Garden access is limited
- The restaurants are accessed from the ground floor apart from The Green Room which is in the courtyard and accessed via the front courtyard with cobbled stones
- There is a disabled lavatory that is located on the basement floor and can be accessed via the lift. The entrance door is 80cm wide. The lift doors are one metre wide. The Ladies and Gents entrances are 80cm wide, while the cubicle doors are 65cm wide in Ladies and 65cm in the Gents.
- The Dining Room has a bamboo floor and Grey’s Restaurant has a tiled floor. Both are on the same level and would be best accessed from the hotel. The doors remain open to these restaurants. There is also an outside access from our courtyard, where a ramp would be placed before the entrance to Grey’s Restaurant
- The disabled toilet is situated on the basement floor and is easily accessible from both Grey’s Restaurant and The Dining Room. There is a lift that will take you to these toilets
- There is ample movable seating in both of our restaurants
- Bedrooms are either accessed via a lift or through the double doors leading from the cobbled courtyard onto stone floor to the ground floor rooms in the Tudor Wing
- There are no adapted bathrooms and grab rails are not in the bedrooms as standard
- Room 23 situated on the top floor can be accessed via a lift. There are no steps from the lift into the hallway or entrance. The entrance door is 80cm wide. The bathroom has a shower cubicle that has a grab rail and alert cord, there is no bath. The bathroom door is 80cm wide and the shower cubicle door is 80cm wide. There is also a grab rail next to the lavatory.
- Small fridges are available in all rooms for keeping medication in
Boardroom facilities
- The boardroom is accessed over a cobbled stone courtyard with one step-up to the entrance. There are double doors which open into the boardroom which has a carpeted floor. The Gallery Rooms are on the same level as the boardroom. They are accessed via the boardroom and have a wooden floor.
- A disabled toilet is available and accessed via The Gallery Rooms
- The cinema is on the same level as the disabled toilet and has double doors leading onto two steps which can be covered by a ramp. The cinema has a carpeted floor
- Service dogs are welcome as are pet dogs (by prior arrangement only)

- Drive directly to the front of the house and staff will valet park your car for you
- A ramp can be placed on the one step up to the entrance to the spa
- The whole of the ground floor is accessible to wheelchairs.
