When was Cottesmore built?

Cottesmore began as a family farm, and was converted by father and son, Michael and Matthew Rogerson, in 1973, turning it into a golf course. The farm buildings, built by French prisoners of war in 1815, were to become the club house. It was further developed into a country club complex with indoor pool, health club and function rooms in 1992, while nine hotel rooms were added in 2002 and seven, two-bedroom holiday lodges were built in 2007. Matthew's son-in-law and daughter, Johnny and Louisa Porter took on the business in July 2013, but fire destroyed much of the property in 2018. Rebuilding began in 2020, including a new restaurant, improved clubhouse and hotel facilities. There was also a brand-new beauty salon and health club, complete with gym, spin studio, fitness class studio, swimming pool, steam room, sauna, Jacuzzi and a full programme of classes.
