We loved the spa and it's facilities the only reason we didn't award 5 stars was because it was meant to be a relaxing massage but turned out too rough, we had to ask for less pressure.
Treatments really nice, spa too busy, perhaps fewer people allowed in. Not sure a pool with children jumping in and out is right location by sauna, steam rooms. Not relaxing
We went on the spa experience for my daughters 18th, The spa staff were lovely, the spa facilities were great!
Products used smelt amazing!!
The experience was only let down by the pool being cold ( broken boiler) and we weren’t told where to go had to keep asking.
We thoroughly enjoyed the massage and facial the therapist was lovely
Danni looked after me with the perfect massage & full body polish. Think she needed another hour to work on the knots in my neck & shoulders. Hobbies masseuse was great too, applying the right pressure throughout.
I always favour club & spa because of the infinity pool - I love feeling the cold air whilst in the warm pool. Totally relaxing, great facilities, not too busy.
Temperature in the pool area was chilly, jacuzzi was cold, no staff to be seen checking so we mentioned our concerns to the lady at the spa reception on leaving as had others, I understand the matters were then addressed.
We arrived at midday & there was no tour of the spa & once in our robes, we realised there was no where to even have a coffee within the spa. The spa facilities are good but 1 of our treatments was disappointing with poor communication & lack of attention. Later the restaurant & dinner were also underwhelming. A large & impersonal hotel.
Treatment was excellent ,i think it was Meg. She was very good really enjoyed full massage with her.
There wasn't enough chairs around the pool, people continue to “reserve” beds but do not use them, this is not fair.
The afternoon tea was good although this was a birthday treat for me paid for by my family, they paid for 3 afternoon teas , but as i looked around everybody had more cake than we did for 3 even though there were only 2 of them!!!! Nobody asked if we wanted more drinks.
My family paid a lot of money for this treat, i didnt complain on the day as they bought this.
We booked the Double Tree Hilton as we knew we would receive great service, excellent facilities and exception quality food, however this time we were left very disappointed.
We paid £99 each for the use of the spa facilities, a full body massage and afternoon tea.
When we arrived I asked if I could up grade my treatment to receive the Elemis free style massage which the receptionist told me that there was not enough time which was fine as the booking was made last minute as a special treat, but she did say that the therapist will use the Elemis massage oil of choice, which was great!
When using the facilities we realised that not all were in use, such as the Aroma steam room, part of the jacuzzi area was not working and the relax area with a TV that usually has a fire on was broken. When paying that amount of money we expected all the facilities to be in use or at least be told that some were not in use.
When receiving the massage, the therapist confirmed that she would use the muscle ease Elemis oil, however she did not use this oil until the very end when she applied it to my decollete, again this was very disappointing as I was told on two occasions that it would be used! Such a shame for a top quality spa to be cutting cost and lying to the customers. I would have happily paid for the use of the oil as my body was tired and aching all over and know how good the Elemis musclease oil is.
The massage was very limited and had no flow or rhythm. The therapist repeatedly broke contact to apply more oil which disturbed the treatment. the air conditioning was blowing cold. Movements were VERY basic and limited and did not cover areas of the body that I would have usually got from other massages ( top of legs, top of arms and shoulders, feet??). I did not feel relaxed and left feeling deflated and thinking that the standards had dropped and that the service was not good value for money at all. I went to the spa as a treat with my partner following the loss of my father in law and unfortunately the spa did not deliver the experience that I had hoped for nor received in the past. The food was excellent, just a shame the rest of the experience was not.
The spa was amazing. The treatments were luxurious and so relaxing, definitely worth a visit. Only negative was that the steam room and aroma room were not on.
I took my best friend who is on holiday from Australia. I found the experience a bit disjointed. The times we asked for were not available even though we booked. The communication with staff was not great and a lady called Heidi was quite rude.
Really nice spa, although the pool area could do with being much bigger; it was very busy with only a few loungers to sit on, the upstairs before and after treatments rooms were nice, if it has been sunny it would of been nice to sit outside on the terrace, maybe next time
Lovely relaxing environment but a few of the spa facilities wern't working which was very disappointing, hydro pool and outdoor pool were freezing cold as opposed to being heated?, Jacuzzi wasn't working? Afternoon tea was lovely with beautiful views of the
Hotel grounds.
I have the body scrub and a facial and my partner has the body scrub and a back massage but really enjoyed our treatments and the use of the spa facilities afterwards :)
The spa is ok, there was far to much chlorine in the water and my eyes were effected. Treatments (back massage and body polish) where two different experiences for myself and my husband. He was left for 16 minutes to shower out of his 45 minute treatment. I however did not shower but was came out in a rash all over my body.
Great treatments staff very informative appointment was on time and very professional, facilities at the spa were excellent a great day was had by both of us
Thank you
Really lovely spa with good facilities. Unfortunately when I went the steam room was broken, however the Hammam room remained open along with the Spa so I wasn’t really at a loss! Would recommend
A great spa with great products. Therapists were excellent and treatments were of a high standard. The reason for the 2 stars is because most of the treatments were cut short. It was advertised as a 1hr treatment when we booked, but lots of the girls were only given 40 mins and 3 as little as 30 mins! We did check with the therapist how long the treatment should last and she said 50 mins including consultation. That’s not what was advertised. I am a spa owner myself so welcome feedback, hope this helps. It would t put me off coming back as standards were high, but I would definitely be confirming the times of treatments before I booked.
The spa was lovely overall - had everything you could want, sauna, steam room etc. The only thing I didn’t like was that the pool was also the main pool for the club members so when we arrived there was an aqua aerobics class going on...it’s not so relaxing having someone shouting exercises all the time! Other than that the spa was lovely.
Great value package that included 55 minute back massage and body scrub. My therapist Claire made me feel totally at ease and treatments were bliss. Would definitely book again. My husbands said his therapist Nic was equally brilliant. Can only comment on food in Marco Pierre White which was piping hot and extremely delicious.
The spa is lovely and relaxing, there is lots to dd. It is quiet and peaceful. The treatments were great, the therapists were friendly and professional.
Spa treatments booked were lovely. But we was not advised that we would have to pay to use the spa at a separate time. Had a body polish and had planned to use full spa facilities as advertised the following morning but we're told we had to pay a further £50. Weren't really given direction on way in so had to find our own way
Everything about the hotel was great, the staff were very helpful and the food was good, the only reason I have down marked this hotel is because there wasn't a separate bar to have a drink, this is probably because of the Covid situation but that was the only down side of our stay.
Perfect retreat, attentive staff, lovely peaceful room. Dined in the garden room, fresh, tasty food with great selection of gins & craft lagers. Have dined in MPW previously & garden room has a more relaxed feel, varied menu, we found the quality in the garden room topped MPW on every level.
Hubby & I had a massage, could have carried on for another hour - exactly what was needed after a stressful few months.
Warm cookies at check in were a lovely welcome, fresh fruit and a card in the room were a nice touch to acknowledge Mums birthday.
Room was a little masculine in style for my taste, would of appreciated a bath rather than just a shower - perhaps this could be pointed out at check in.
We booked a superbly priced overnight spa deal & had high expectations of Doubltree. The spa facilities were great but 1 of our treatments was disappointing. Later the garden restaurant was large & impersonal & dinner was definitely overpriced for the standard. Our room was small & clean but again impersonal & there was a good breakfast selection, once you had queued in the morning. In conclusion a large busy hotel perhaps focusing on corporate & events business not relaxing spa breaks.
Lovely stay. Spa and treatments were lovely! A couple of staff a bit rude. We book our stay with Spa Breaks and they hadn’t got us down for our evening meal even though we had confirmation. They didn’t seem bothered and just said there wasn’t anything they could do. Thankfully a table had finished 20 mins later and we were able to have a meal.
Came with a group of friends, on a spa break and overnight stay, as part of my 50th birthday celebrations. Every part of the stay was amazing and I will definitely be booking to stay here again in the future!
The room smelt damp each time as we walked in so we had to keep spraying to mask it. The mattress was lovely and comfortable. The restaurant was average and expensive and unfortunately I found a food label in my soup, although they were very apologetic and knocked a side order of chips off the bill to make up for it. The breakfast looked amazing with a great choice but unfortunately it was barely warm. We did enjoy our stay though and found the staff to be polite chatty and helpful and although there were a few negatives we would probably stay again.
While we enjoyed our stay there were a number of issues ie I had booked a twin room and were given a double{this happened last time as well} also informed it was a two night stay when i had only booked one. I also confirmed our dinner reservation with the receptionist who advised that that was correct only to find that no reservation had been made and consequently we had to wait another hour before eating which really was not acceptable when i had the email confirmation stating the time ect. Unfortunately I will think twice before booking at the Doubletree again.
We enjoyed our stay however the jets in outside spa were not working and on the Saturday the showers in the changing room were not working . There was no information in the room Re opening times restaurants and spa . Additionally we struggled to find our way around the hotel and spa
Comfortable room with everything we needed. Really friendly and welcoming staff. Meal in the on site restaurant was really nice and thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast experience food and staff were beyond our expectations
Great venue which we really loved and don't like to pick fault but the Shower was awful to say the least.
If nobody tells you then you won't know there is areas to be improved and dare say you are keen to be the best venue possible.
Brilliant stay rooms are great, food was amazing in the Marco Pierre white restaurant and breakfast in the garden room. Would defiantly come back again :)
The spa experience was amazing, the hotel is beautiful, however my experience in the marco pierre restraint was not perfect, the food was lovely untill i found a hair in my desert. Other than that everything was amazing and i really enjoyed myself.
The hotel room was lovely but we only had a shower and I like having a bath. Large comfy bed and a big TV, lovely and quiet.
The Marco Restaurant was absolutely terrible. The food was extremely low standard. I was really unwell afterwards and so was my husband. All pre made and reheated in a microwave!!! The worst meal I have ever had!!
First time we stayed here, staff were very good and helpful, our room was immaculate. The facilities were also very good and well looked after. All in all would definitely recommend.
Traveled to Chester for birthday for boyfriends birthday. Had a wonderful stay! Treatment was perfect, staff very welcoming, brill communication. Marco service was great ! Over all perfect stay. Highly recommend and will be visiting again shortly.
Everything was perfect, the deal was great value for money. Spabreaks had organised everything perfectly in advance. Every staff member we spoke to or even just walked past was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable.
The hotel and its facilities are lovely can not complain about them just be careful when booking around this time that there are Christmas party’s on at this hotel and they may be a chance you will be awoken by doors banging and loud voices that’s what happened to us also take plenty of money at nearly £6 a pint you will need it
Broken wardrobe and hairdryer in the room. Bed rock hard and pillows just awful. No one answers the phone for room service. Staff not overly helpful. Drinks expensive. Went to steakhouse restaurant tables were all wobly waitress said they all were, had a piece of fluff attached to a chip waitress looked at it said she would speak to chef and never came back. Ordered a cocktail that was awful sent it back and they returned it back to us with the addition of a straw! Would not go back. Been to many a place that has been better than this. Happy anniversary to us!
On a positive note the breakfast and service at the other restaurant was lovely
Stayed with 3 friends for a joint 40th/50th Birthday. We received a free room upgrade which was amazing. We had a wonderful time. Staff lovely and so accommodating- even fetching us an extra chair so we could all sit and chat with our drinks in our room. Perfect stay.
