A four star country hotel looking out across woodland, the River Tay and Perthshire’s vast and rugged landscape, Dunkeld House Hotel is a charming retreat with 98 bedrooms. The style is welcoming and elegant, as you might expect, with original features heralding its historic splendour.
Perthshire has a reputation as Scotland’s larder, so food is a really special occasion, inspired by fresh ingredients harvested and hunted in the surrounding area, the menu features locally sourced produce, herbs from their own herb garden and smoked salmon from their own smokery. Wash it down with Scotch whisky, and for decadent afternoons don’t forget to sample the afternoon tea.
The spa is nice but there are no relaxation areas and no water or teas readily available.
The treatment and therapist was lovely . I would use the spa again but not book a spa break
The full body massage was excellent, and the staff were very friendly. Disappointed not to get the facial but those are the government guidelines at the moment. Also we were unable to get a slot for swimming so i would highly recommend booking before you arrive.
The spa staff were very knowledgeable and give a first class experience. They were very attentive and gave very good advice and feedback on any issues they noted during the treatment.
Robes were left in our room for our spa treatment. We had a wander down to the pool where we were given towels as well. Facilities consisted of a pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. We relaxed, using the facilities until it was time for our treatment. We'd opted for an hour long full body massage. Having never been to a spa before I wasn't sure what to expect. It was a thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable experience. I'd definitely do it again.
The disadvantage is the access to the spa from the rooms. A long walk through corridors and involving stairs. Some areas cold so not nice for wearing robes. No footwear provided. Once there spa was lovely although pool a bit cold.
We booked our stay at Dunkeld house because of the location and the spa. The package we were on included full use of the spa facilities and one full treatment each. We both opted for full body massages, and thought they were fantastic. The pool/jacuzzi had a view over the grounds which was lovely. We went after holiday season so enjoyed that it wasn't too busy. And staff we met were really friendly and welcoming. The steam room and sauna were very nice too, and I'd definitely visit again if I was in the area.
We were welcomed by the concierge who took us to the spa and then brought my car round he was very friendly and helpful. The Therapist who did the facial was lovely and it was an excellent experience. The lunch afterwards was lovely as were the staff. A perfect afternoon!
I was treated to my very first facial and it felt wonderful. The therapists where very professional and explained what was going to happen. My only criticism is with respects to who we booked with not Dunkeld House directly, on booking we where informed that our treatment consisted of a back massage, so I booked myself a facial as an extra, to find out when speaking to the therapist that is was actually a mini back and facial combined, so they changed mine slightly to a full body then a facial, had I known this at the point if booking I could have chosen something else as my extra, again not the fault of the Spa staff.
They where wonderful and I would definitely recommend.
I thought the spa was fantastic. The pool a good size with fantastic outlook. The treatments were very enjoyable. We both really enjoyed the experience.
Treatments were wonderful , lunch was great , dinner was a slight disappointment as menu was not to my taste , had to have vegetarian option , but was very nice
Spotlessly clean spa. We were having the detox package which consisted of massage or facial I opted for facial it’s was the best I’ve ever had so very relaxing also included shoulders and arms. Products used Ishga excellent. I then had a body scrub this to be followed by seaweed bath. I didn’t have seaweed bath I had file and polish instead . Felt amazing afterwards . Top marks to Aga my therapist she was great .
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The hotels location was stunning, bedrooms very comfortable and the staff were very good.
All the food that we had was excellent, and you can choose to eat from the bar menu or the fine dining restaurant. We choose the fine dining and were not disappointed!
The only negative was the price of the drinks, but I guess that is just what you pay when staying at a hotel.
Dunkeld House Hotel was a great choice for a break away. The area is quiet and peaceful, hotel very comfortable and staff welcoming and helpful. The spa treatments are amazing and I was totally chilled out! Would highly recommend.
Started off with a very nice lunch before checking in. Staff couldn't be any more friendly and helpful. Had a nice double room with a large comfortable double bed. The hotel is situated next to the river with nice easy walks up and downstream. After our spa treatment (massage and use of pool, sauna and steam room) we had a very nice evening dinner followed by a few drinks. Again the staff were very pleasant and helped make the stay a very pleasant experience. Would thoroughly recommend a stay.
Very comfortable rooms with modern smart decor. En suite was beautifully decorated. All spotlessly clean. Conservatory a beautiful area for dining and food delicious and well presented.
The hotel is in a beautiful spot away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The facilities were great. The room was lovely great view. The food was fabulous breakfast dinner and afternoon tea were excellent. I will definitely return.
My friend and I enjoyed our time at Dunkeld house Hotel it is a very tranquil place and stunning gardens. The room was very nice and comfortable, and all the staff were very nice and welcoming.
My husband and I walked from the train to Dunkeld house through the main gates and followed the road through the extensive grounds, feeling like we had already made the right decision on location. We booked this hotel as we wanted an escapee from the city, somewhere we could get to on public transport, but that felt a bit removed from the hustle bustle, and the setting was perfect. We arrived to a warm reception, and were checked in with no problem although we were a little early. Our room was on the ground floor. It was a medium size, with all of the basics you need (kettle, TV, hair dryer etc) and had a nice clean bathroom with a bath as well as shower. We were a little disappointed that our window opened onto the car park with little view as we've never booked a spa break in a place like this before, so if we were to return we'd request a room higher up with a view. Also, the bed was a little hard for us, and obviously two singles pushed together as there was a gap down the middle, but that wasn't a big problem. Our package included breakfast, dinner and one lunch in the restaurant. The dinners we had were delicious, and the service outstanding. We enjoyed sitting in the conservatory with a view over the river. Only criticism is that, although we were encouraged to book our stay through spa breaks, at time of paying for dinner each night there was confusion over our package subsidy and we had to send the bill back to be corrected, but they struggled to do it so we felt like we were causing a bit of a scene. The waiting staff were very gracious about it, I just think they need to be informed before as I could see they were so busy and I felt a little embarrassed. Lunch was no problem at all with regards to this, and we thought the included spa lunch menu was very generous.
For us, the setting of the hotel, the brilliant service and the attached spa are what made this stay special. We enjoyed walking in and around the grounds and relaxing in the spa.
Room had rusty bath and Black mould on shower head . The lounge bar and dining room had lights turned down so low could hardly see one anoth across the table. Disappointed in our room.
We had a lovely stay only a couple of things spotted a lot of cob webs around the hotel and when we were having our evening meal one of the party was having white wine and we waited a very long time for it to come so she wasn’t able to have it when she was eating and the next time we ordered it we were going to cancel it because it was taking so long. We had our red wine so it was annoying her having to wait. Apart from that I will definitely be back. Lovely little village as well. 👍❤️
Oh wow, this was well and truly the most exquisite place we have stayed at. The grounds where magnificent with beautiful views all around.
It was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life.
The restaurant had a different feel with each meal. The pianist was a lovely accompaniment to a wonderful dinner.
It was a spare of the moment booking for my 40th and it is a birthday I will remember for a long time.
The room was very clean and we had everything we could have asked for.
I would definitely return.
I thought the hotel was set beautifully in the countryside with fabulous scenery all around particularly the autumn colours were spectacular. The hotel is very smart with plush furnishings and lovely roomy bar/ dining areas with fabulous outlook. My only disappointment was that you do not have any twin rooms on the 1st floor to give us the view.
Lovely hotel but the restaurant did not have a record of our booking for dinner booked through spabreaks. As the hotel was very busy we then had to wait for an hour for a table. Disappointing.
