The staff were friendly and helpful. The two treatments I had were very relaxing.
The Marine Hotel needs updated.
I was sitting waiting on my treatment in allocated room, which was right near the staff room. Staff were constantly coming and going (not their fault) room could be in a better place.
There was cream tea included in my package. Obviously with the current Covid restrictions at the time, the restaurant was for guests who were staying over. I was told the cream tea would be takeaway, which I was okay with. As I was leaving I was handed a brown paper bag and all it contained was two scones which obviously came in frozen and were defrosted, with a tub of clotted cream and some jam!
The Spa was amazing, I had the Deep Massage Therapy and the Facial which I would recommend, after the treatment I was taken to the relaxation room just to unwind a little bit more. I couldn't have asked for anything more, the only negative was the lockers weren't that great as I couldn't get them to lock very easy and the ones that were supposed to be locked opened up no problem.
The treatment was good and the therapist was nice . I was not shown round the spa and carried my clothing around with me .
The cream tea was awful and a total waste of money . I wouldn’t go to the Marine again .
Certainly not worth the £85 paid !
Unfortunately both steam rooms were inoperative and one sauna was very luke warm. The outdoor jacuzzi was also not as warm as it should be. I was disappointed not to be told either in advance or as I checked in that there was a problem otherwise I would have changed to another day. The worst part was a terrible smell like vomit in the changing room. I later learned it was a fault with a kitchen trap above. I feel that was unacceptable. It was hard to find a locker that worked and there didnt seem to be any cubicles for those of us who prefer privacy ( I used the baby changing cubicle). I have since learned there is a change of ownership so maybe not the best time to pick this particular venue. On the plus side, the treatment and therapist were nice and there was a quiet room to relax in. The afternoon tea (not included in my package) was excellent. Overall, 'could do better'. Disappointed as this was a 60th birthday treat from my family.
Unfortunately when I arrived, our booking was not on the system and we were not booked in for treatments. This was very disappointing and confusing given that I had our booking confirmation and everything was paid for. The Spa Manager very kindly cancelled their staff training and fitted some of our party in for treatments, others were not arriving until later as there treatment was scheduled for a later time. The day got off to a very stressful start, not what you expect for a spa day. The therapists were excellent it was just a pity everything was so rushed and we didn't get the full benefit of our treatments.
Broken lockers. Lots of missing tiles. Firm filling over cracks. Broken equipment not labelled as such. Ladies changing rooms smelt absolutely foul. Towels pilled everywhere. Actual treatment was fine but was left for 15 mins without explanation. Food was poor and drinking water was yuk. Normally try to be more upbeat but I wont be returning here.
Therapist very friendly but treatment not outstanding- ok but had much better at 2 other Elemis spas.
Massage table very basic, my feet were cold when getting upper body/ facial treatments.
In my opinion, a good middle of the road treatment, overpriced for what you get.
I am unable to rate the food as this was not an option. The staff were very welcoming and the treatments were very good. As with the hotel some of the pool and showers areas were in need of updating.
Spa treatments were great. Shame pool area let’s it down with most things out of order including the lockers which most don’t work properly and both steam rooms being out of order.
Generally good. Spa and areas were quite shabby and could have done with a good scrub. Food was just ok. No starter options; peas served with fish and chips were terrible and dry; desserts were completely uninspiring and more like they were from a kids’ menu than a spa day option!
Therapist was nice and treatment was really good. A couple of minor points, therapist’s fingers during my facial smelled of cigarette smoke and the hot towels were really too hot for the face.
The spa area was nice with a good size swimming pool plus access to lovely hot spa area which went outside. The sauna and steam room were good but I was disappointed to see some broken tiles on the seating area in the steam room.
We had two treatments each in the spa . Felt like the treatments were rushed my 25mins manicure lasted 10 mins and my friends had to be redone . (My polish also all came off the next day) the staff didn’t know what we were booked in for and almost gave us the wrong treatments , we didn’t get a tour of the facilities and had to find our own way round. The girl at receptions said ‘sorry I don’t work for the spa’ when we asked for help. She then didn’t find anyone who knew the answer it ended up being an Elmis rep that spoke to us. The experience left a lot to be desired an yeh didn’t see to know what they were doing at all. The facial I got was amazing but everything after made me regret booking . Was very underwhelming which when bookin for. A birthday surprise is a bit of a disappointment . The girls giving the treatments were very friendly but clearly lacked experience In manicures.
Our spa experience was very nice. Spa staff were very friendly. The treatments were fantastic!!
There was tiles missing, and a bad smell in the steam rooms. Loved the outdoor pool. And the changing facilities were adequate. Gym looked great, but didn't use it. The food wasn't great, but the manager has sorted that with us . Brilliant views out to beach and golf course . We will be back with the dog for a drink :)
Had a few issues on the day in the jacuzzi and relaxation room, as they were falling to pieces, the place is due to be refurbished so I appreciate that and understand is a transitional state for the building.
Communication was poor and felt like we needed to chase to make sure we were on top of the appointments, but was good overall!
Mostly excellent, but too much paperwork and hanging around at the start. Most of the details had already been supplied at booking, so extra admin was duplicative
This is a spa with excellent facilities including well equipped gym, good size pool and easily accessible outdoor hot tub.The location provides stunning views over the Forth Estuary.
Had the most amazing massage from Stephanie. She has magic healing hands! We loved the spa too and would give ourselves more time to enjoy next time. Building was a bit cold on the day we visited but it hasn't put us off. We will be back - soon!
We couldn't have asked for a better hotel to relax in. The staff were friendly, helpful and always smiling.
The bedroom was spacious, clean and very warm and the bed was really comfortable. The breakfast was fabulous as much as you wanted to eat and everything you could think of.
We will definitely be back again.
had a relaxing stay staff could have been nicer !! some wer nicer than others excepted rooms to b big bigger normally go to cutherland house in east kilbride rooms are bigger and the staff are very attentive!! dont think I would return to McDonald marine!!
The 3 of us booked a room for 3. Rather than providing a large double and a single bed we had 2 "smallish" double beds, which was good for the one that had the bed to herself, but cramped for the other two.
Prosecco in the room as per booked package, but only 2 glasses were provided. By the time we were ready to drink the Prosecco the ice had melted, so I went to the bar for a refill of the ice bucket. Unfortunately , the ice machine was broken and the barman could only provide me with a handful of pieces of ice from a bag. Completely insufficient for the purpose, we decided to leave the bottle for the next day by which time more ice was available from bags but still not from ice machine.
Staff were generally friendly with a couple of exceptions. One waiter in particular ( serving in bar in the afternoon and also at breakfast in the morning) looked very glum, and everything seemed to be a bit of an imposition and that was me not asking for anything special, e.g. in the morning at breakfast I asked for coffee with hot milk on the side and I was brought a latte glass with hot milk without any coffee and I was made to feel as if I had made a mistake and not him....and never a smile to be seen. I think this particular waiter is in the wrong job. Most staff were very friendly but two stood out with their unfriendliness.
Package said slippers and robes would be provided and yes, robes were there but not the slippers. Went to reception to ask for them who sent me all the way to the spa downstairs to get them.
At these prices I feel that these little irritations detract from the whole experience which on the whole was very enjoyable.
The staff at the hotel were very welcoming and made our stay enjoyable. The main reception rooms were comfortable and the restaurant served a good selection of food. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the beds were very comfortable. The reason I have only given 3 stars in some areas is that the rooms and furniture are dated. Our room was particularly stuffy and we were unable to open the window meaning we had a restless night. We were given a fan on our second night which helped but a window that opened would have been better.
This is the 3rd time I have stayed at the hotel.Previous stays have been great but hotel is now getting run down. There was nothing major wrong with the stay but for the money we payed there was too many little things that went wrong. Some being taps not working in 2 different rooms, both steam rooms in spa not working, not having my table reservation, breakfast was poor. Bar had hardly any drink when asked for a drink from the menu. There were many more other little things that need fixed as well. Also the sign at the front door saying coming soon to the spa as it’s due to get some up was there two years ago and it still hasn’t been done up. Won’t be returning anytime soon.
The hotel is lovely with magnificent views over the golf course and the coastal waters. Our room 128 was very spacious with super comfy twin beds large bathroom with shower plus tea and coffee making facilities. My sister got an upgrade to a suite room 222 which was a lovely gesture. The room was very grand and with separate sitting area and large bathroom.
My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room, location and the facilities were fantastic.I always struggle to sleep in hotel rooms but I slept extrimely well. The pillows were very comfortable. Spa was exceĺlent. I will definitely be coming back ane will recomend to friends and family.
We had an absolutely brilliant time from start to finish
The staff were so fantastic and looked after us as a group so well
Definitely deserves an all round 5 stars
