I received my spa voucher as a mother’s day present and was very much looking forward to having a day to myself to relax. The booking process was very good and I enjoyed the treatment (facial with back and shoulder massage), but unfortunately there were a few disappointing elements to the day.
Once I got into the pool area, I saw there was a sign on the jacuzzi to say it was not working. The jacuzzi is something I always love at a spa so this was disappointing and a shame this was not pointed out to me upon arrival. There is otherwise a small pool, sauna and steam room, so this did limit the options a bit.
I had paid an extra £10 at the time of booking for lunch and on arrival chose a falafel burger, which unfortunately was very dry and bland, served with dry chips. Food was served in a small dining room separate from the main restaurant where you could remain in your spa robes. The dining room and treatment reception area was deserted the whole time I was there and when I went to ask for condiments the only way to find somebody would have meant walking through the busy main restaurant area, which I didn’t really feel comfortable doing in the spa robes provided. I used the hot drink facilities provided but the hot water was barely luke warm so this was undrinkable, and again, there was nobody to ask to assist with this.
There was a therapist waiting there at the time of my treatment who was very nice and this part went well.
Although I did enjoy having some rare time to myself and the treatment was pleasant, the facilities, service and overall experience was disappointing and would put me off returning to this particular place again.
