Slaley Hall was first built in 1911 for the Hunting family, who had been successful in cargo shipping. It opened as a hotel in 2000 following a long journey and huge levels of investment to become a popular destination.

A four-star retreat, Slaley Hall Hotel has 141 bedrooms on site as well as luxury lodges, all set within a 1000-acre estate. There are two restaurants on-site - the Claret Jug and Hadrian’s Brasserie, while afternoon tea is served at Duke's and there's private dining in the Whisky snug.

- There are two disabled rooms, both of which are twin.

Set amidst a beautiful landscape including the hotel’s own golf course, the leisure and health club facilities at Slaley Hall Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort have a full range of facilities for spa goers, including a 20-metre swimming pool, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and luxurious relaxation room for those who have opted to have spa treatments. The health club also features a fully equipped gym with various classes taking place throughout the week, including a monthly morning boot camp, Pilates classes and yoga experiences. As this is the largest resort in the north east, you can choose from many things to do in addition to time in the spa, ranging from 4x4 off-road driving and clay pigeon shooting to quad biking, segway safaris, mud runs and archery.
All guests on a spa break can relax by the poolside or in the spa’s dedicated pool side relaxation area where there is a juice and snacks bar, or even a glass of champagne waiting for you. There are also nine ELEMIS treatment rooms including a couples Luxe Dual room should you wish to upgrade your experience. There is also a range of ELEMIS treatments available including signature classics such as a back, neck and shoulder massage; and a dedicated nail bar where you can relax and be pampered.
Treatments are only available for ages 16 and over. However, not all treatments are available for those under the age of 18. Children under the age of 16 need to be accompanied by an adult at all times.
