The Alfriston (formerly Deans Place Hotel) in the South Downs is owned by The Signet Collection, a luxury boutique hotel group. The group acquired the 14th-century property in 2023 and completed an extensive renovation before its 2025 relaunch, making it their fourth property.
- How do you get to The Alfriston South Downs?
Alfriston is situated a couple of miles south of the A27 which runs parallel with the coast from Eastbourne to Portsmouth and gives easy access to the A27 heading north to the M25 and London. There are two pay and display car parks in the village centre, and there's parking on site at the hotel.
There are regular bus services to Alfriston from Brighton, Lewes and Eastbourne, operated by Countryliner, Renown Buses and Brighton and Hove buses.
The closest railway station is at Seaford, around four miles away, with regular service to Brighton and Lewes, with onward connections to London. There is also a railway station at Lewes, around 9 miles away, with direct trains to London Victoria (one hour 10 minutes), Brighton (15 minutes) and Eastbourne (20 minutes).
