When was Stanley House Hotel & Spa built?

Stanley House was originally built as a family home in the early 17th century as the manor house of Mellor until Woodfold Hall was built around 1799. Having fallen into disrepair over the years, conversion work began on the Grade II building and greenbelt land in 2003, supported by the local authority, English Heritage and other local organisations. The hotel opened for business in September 2004 and has since continued to enjoy updates to maintain its award-winning status.

Set in 54 acres of grounds and gardens, the Grade II listed manor house is now a four-star hotel with 30 rooms and suites, many with unique and original features. Fred’s Brasserie is the hotel restaurant, serving all meals from breakfast through to dinner, as well as afternoon tea.

Spa facilities include a collection of thermal cabins, a hydrotherapy massage pool, and a gym. There are six treatment rooms where therapists use Natura Bisse and TEMPLESPA products in a range of face and body treatments.

  • There are six conference rooms on two floors. The upper two conference rooms are accessed via the lift or staircase in reception. All rooms are reached through double doors. Lighting is even but can be dimmed by individual conference organisers by sections.
  • There are two accessible bedrooms on the ground floor which supply specific facilities for guests with disabilities. The shower room has a walk-in shower.
  • The Woodlands building has one ground floor bedroom that is suitable for wheelchair access

  • The spa building floors are all level and are mainly made up of tiles and the Karndene floor
  • A lift is available to gain access to the lower ground floor changing rooms and thermal suite as well as a stairwell
