Cairndale Hotel & Spa is a three-generation owned family business. It was founded in 1948 by James Wallace Senior and has stayed in the family ever since. Today it is owned by Matthew Wallace Senior, who bought his three brothers out of the business in March 2020.

The hotel itself is easy to get to and if you are driving there is private, on-site parking for guests at no extra charge. The closest train station is Dumfries train station which is a two-minute drive or a six-minute walk to the hotel. Both Glasgow and Newcastle Airports are a one hour, 45-minute drive away.

The hotel has undergone multiple expansions including expansion into the neighbouring properties, Burnock House and Park House, bringing the total bedrooms to 91 and adding on a ballroom, leisure club and restaurants. In 2020 Matthew Wallace Senior bought the hotel from his three brothers and continues to grow it as the hotel we know today.
