Tring sits on the edge of the Chiltern Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) stretching from Goring-on-Thames to Hitchin across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, and Bedfordshire. The town has a rich history; it has Roman links, the Manor of Tring is described in the Domesday survey of 1086, it received its charter from King Edward II in 1315 and it even has connections with the ancestors of George Washington.
